RIP Teri Garr

Anne Beesely who played the little girl is likely still alive. If so, I suppose she is a private person since she isn't signing autographs at nostalgia conventions.

Neither was Sandy Gimpel, back in the day when nobody knew about her. At one time, the story was that a Sharon Gimpel had been the one in the salt vampire suit, and that she'd been so disgusted or so traumatized by her one bit part that she was never heard from again. What a contrast when the given name was corrected, and we found out that Sandy was an established dancer and stuntwoman who'd enjoyed the role.

But we're drifting way off-topic. I've known someone with multiple sclerosis. Ms. Garr did not have an easy time of her last 40 years, and dying from the complications was not a particularly pleasant way to go. Rest in Peace.

No, it's not; she was forced to make a lot of concessions, as time went on, but she did manage to keep working into her 60s.

All things MS considered, 79 is actually a pretty good run -- some sufferers don't get nearly that long.

That would have been her role in the new series. Did she not want to do the new series?

It's possible the role might have been recast if it went to series. (Just like Shatner replaced Jeff Hunter when Hunter decided to move on.)

Or maybe the lure of a starring role in a new series would have overcome her unhappy memories of filming the Trek ep.

We'll never know.

Teri Garr passed away today at the age of 79. Although renown for her many standout rolls over an illustrious career in Hollywood, to those on this board she will always be Roberta Lincoln from "Assignment Earth" (though apparently she really didn't enjoy that gig).

She was very likable. The David Letterman youtube channel uploaded a nice interview that she did after Tootsie.
