Rey on Jakku.. why? (new theory)

Rey is 19, Kylo is 29-30, according to Pablo Hidalgo on twitter.

The only thing I got from the film was that Han, at the very least, must not know about Rey's parentage if she's a Skywalker or Kenobi - he's pretty clearly just going to dump them into an escape pod onto the nearest planet once he takes back the Falcon until he learns about the Resistance/BB-8 stuff.
That was an empty threat. He clearly knows because Maz asks him "who's the girl?" .. next time we see Maz, she tells her "whoever your waiting for is never coming back.'

also the look on Han's face when she remarks about seeing that much green says it all.

If the OP theory about Kylo Ren secretly protecting one child is correct, then Han would not know any of the young Jedi survived. She would have no reason to think Rey is one of them unless he saw her use the force.

The only problem is, if Luke is Rey's father, and she wasn't dead, he'd probably force-know about it.

It's possible that Maz knows but Han doesn't, just by the fact that she was intuitively drawn to Luke's lightsaber.

I'm sure Vader had more things to worry about, like healing from lava burns, grieving over the fact that he murdered his wife, and coming to terms with the fact that he was basically a robot now to even think about the possibility of kids.

Luke is still Luke (presumably).

Vader did everything he could to bury Anakin.

He didn't know he would have had more than one child as Padme seemed to keep that from him. Or else in order to keep the marriage a secret she didn't even get any medical aid for the entire pregnancy until the birth.

Anakin wouldn't have been really able to sense his children until after birth. Othereise they'd just be part of what he senses from Padme. And even then, he had sensed her before being burnt, but he had to ask later (though half a galaxy away regardless).

If Luke knows he had a child, than he could probably feel it in the Force, sort of like how he can feel Leia in the Force. He just didn't know what that meant back in the day. (Love at First Sight vs. Force Bonded Twin Sister? How are you suppose to know that?)

He never responds onscreen - and any response could've been what he already knew that was shown onscreen.

eh, I think that much would've been obvious to anybody that would've just met her - that it's a shame she'd been 'sheltered' that way.

In some ways she's the new take on what would be Jaina Solo in the EU. Though I wonder how many of the old Jaina Solo fans are pissed because of it, or if they like Rey anyway.

How could he know?

Even if Han knew that she was left on Jakku for her own protection she grew up there and changed both in character and physical appearance so it's easy to understand that he didn't make the connection.

They Kylo theory makes no sense just because of the age gap.. a teenage Kylo Ren/Ben Solo wouldn't have nearly the clout to be such a threat as to hide her from him (and i doubt he went Sith at 15 yet, more like his early/mid 20s).

However Snoke might have been a factor who may have been actively seeking powerful Sith acolytes and may have learned that Skywalker has a daughter and has maybe tried abducting her and coming far too close in succeeding. That would perhaps be a valid reason to give up one's own daughter, how painful it may be, to keep her safe.

She was left with Unkar. Han knew (via Rey) that Unkar had the Falcon. That's stated in the film.

I'm not saying he knew - that's why I think *if* she's a Skywalker he never knew.

Here's a cool theory that someone came up with on facebook.

Rememebr how angry Kylo Ren was when he learned a girl helped the droid escape?

The theory is that he himself left Rey on Jakku. When it came time to kill all of Luke's students, he could not bring himself to kill her, so he had to hide her away. He also might have had a hand in leaving the Falcon there as well. It was Kylo Ren who killed Constable Zuvio with his lightsaber there.. and it did look like a First Order drop ship (from the beginning of the movie0 that her parents left in.

1) we know why the falcon was there
2) As far as I am aware we never saw Constable Zuvio at all in the film
3) Ren looks to be about 30ish? Rey maybe 18-20? so he did this at 12?

^Not impossible assuming he began his Jedi training at a very young age as padawans were in the old Jedi Order. Indeed Ahsoka wasn't much older when she became a front line Commander. Not that I buy the theory though. Seems like too much of a coincidence when there's already about 5 other coincidences going on.

If Ren is 30 years old and he massacred the Jedi training academy around 15 years old. What the hell has Ren been doing for the last 15 or so years that Snoke NOW has to finish his training. Finish what? What more could he learn, that should have been taught over the last 15 years.

He may have one test in particular in mind. Luke had to confront Vader to become a Jedi (according to Yoda); perhaps Snoke has an apprentice for Kylo to take on or some other such milestone.

Yeah, clearly Kylo doesn't get full membership access until he kills his dad. So he was in a kind of workplace limbo up to this point, which explains his frustration and temper tantrums. He just wants that promotion!!!

I can buy that Ben/Kylo saved Rey from the Knights of Ren at the New Jedi Temple (in the Vision), I can get behind a 16-17 year old Ben taking her to Jakku (that would explain the "You got old" line to Max Von Sydow), I'm still wrestling with her actually being Luke's daughter...........Vader never knew his twins, Luke would have known Rey for 6-7 years......so you would think he would be able to "feel" her. 2/3 of the way to a theory...........

It's very possible Luke was always aware of Rey, but simply chose to ignore her. He might have abbonded her. I wouldn't be surprised if Luke had, at one point, turned Dark. Not actual Dark Side, but with the new Order slaughtered, he might have gone on a killing spree. Realizing what he had done, and how being Force sensitive caused so many issues in his family, he might have decided to (for her own sake, from his point of view) abbonden Rey and shut himself of from the rest of the galaxy. He hopes she will never feel the Force, and never have to go through so many horrible events like himself and Annakin had to.

I dunno, probably total BS from my part :D

He also might have had a hand in leaving the Falcon there as well.
Duquesne stole the Falcon from Han Solo.
The Erwin Boys stole it from Duquesne.
Unkar Plutt stole it from the Erwin Boys.
Rey stole it from Unkar Plutt on Jakku.
Han Solo reclaimed it from Rey.
Rey got it from Han Solo when he died.

Ren was probably agitated because of some prophecy he heard about a Jedi woman who would come along and set things right. Then, there she is. He already seems pretty insecure, now this? Yeah, those Jedi love their prophecies.

No, that's just something they use to tell people ;)
