Spoilers Resident Alien (2020 SyFy)

Based on the Dark Horse comic, SYFY’s RESIDENT ALIEN follows Harry, an alien played by Alan Tudyk (“Rogue One,” “Firefly”) that crash lands on Earth and passes himself off as a small-town human doctor. Arriving with a secret mission, Harry starts off living a simple life…but things get a bit rocky when he’s roped into solving a local murder and realizes he needs to assimilate into his new world. As he does so, he begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his mission and asking the big life questions like: “Are human beings worth saving?” and “Why do they fold their pizza before eating it?”

You know, I loved the comics and I'm very eager to see the series, but I don't like very much the fact they made him kill the original doctor and assume his identity. But I suppose that the original comics plot (he carefully fabricated a false identity in the years) wouldn't translate well in a tv show.

Has anybody watched it yet? I thought it was a lot of fun, and I'm definitely interested to see where the story is going.

This show wasn't on my radar until a friend mentioned it, as we both loved Alan Tudyk.

Watched the pilot yesterday. As I understand it, it's different from the comics, but I thought it was a lot of fun too.

It's very different from the comics - It's OK but I'm a little sad we did not get a faithful adaption.

Watched the pilot. Though nothing was laugh out lout hilarious it was still fun and amusing all the same. I'll stick with it for the time being.

Just watched the pilot and this is right up my alley.

Of course i'll watch anything Alan Tudyk is doing ( as i would do with anyone from the Firefly days) and i was not disappointed. It's a nice blend of humor, man/alien out of his element and murder mystery and Tudyk plays that so well. Looking forward to catching up but based on the pilot alone i'm already hooked and would recommend it to everyone.

The end of the pilot episode had me in stitches

We've watched the first three episodes.

Very good. Moves from hilarious to dark and back again pretty seamlessly.

Will definitely continue.

They don't just move from hilarious to dark seamlessly, but I find they also move seamlessly from goofy antics to really poignant character stuff. Indeed, that's one of the things I'm really enjoying about this show, while all the characters provide a good laugh in every episode, there's some real heart to their backstories and interactions that definitely makes for a truly unique viewing experience.

I've been enjoying this, too. Alan Tudyk is fun to watch. The supporting characters are mostly good, too. Can't wait to see what happens next. Will he still want to carry out his objective? Will the alien hunters find him?

Episode 5 was hilarious.

I've really gotten caught up in this now. The supporting characters are coming to life with their plots whilst Tudyk continues to be hilarious.

I feel like Harry will be more and more at ease in his new home, only for it to blow up spectacularly when his secret comes out.
