Rebooting "I Dream of Jeannie"

Yea. Plus it's not even like they're alternate takes on the characters that have been race-swapped. They are SUCCESSORS to the characters who were the same race they were in the comics and then stopped using that moniker either because they changed to a new name/identity(Carol became Captain Marvel) or were no longer able to be that (Barbara became Oracle after being paralyzed from the waist down), Spider-Man died in Miles Morales original universe.

It would be pretty bigoted to say that successor's to existing characters in the same universe must be the same race/gender as the original.

If a white superhero is getting older and looking for a successor are they supposed to only look at white candidates?

Barbara is back to being Batgirl again ever since DC rebooted everything back to issue #1. :scream:

I know more than a few paraplegics who wish they had access to DC Comics's level of medical expertise. :(

Anyhoo, back to Jeannie ... :)

Of all the Jeannie episodes, I Still Dream of Jeannie is my favorite (Jeannie channels Carrie!)

You really see the evolution of the character (Gone is the giggling teenager of S1).

This Jeannie is a grown woman, a mother, and a fighter.

The movie is available for streaming on Internet Archive.

This is about as close as it's ever going to get to a streaming release. Sony/Columbia never kept its masters (there was no TV on Home Video back in 1991 when the movie first came out).

They made the series DVDs from the syndication copies (The movie still has NBC's original network promos at the end! )

I Dream of Jeannie: Fifteen Years Later is available on DVD from Amazon.

Cassandra Cain is the star of the latest Batgirl comic. Barbara is Oracle again, but does don the tights in occasion.

Still counts. :p

But there are more: Gordon in The Batman. Felix in Bond. The Watcher in What If..., the Ancient One in Dr. Strange was race and gender swapped, Mordo in Dr. Strange, Heimdall in Thor, Valkyrie in Thor, MJ in Spider-Man, Jimmy Olsen in Supergirl. Tigress in Stargirl, Aquaman in Aquaman, April in Strange New Worlds, T'Pring in Strange New Worlds, T'Pau in TNG, Tim Drake in Titans, Lana Lang in Smallville,
Not quite the same since the MJ in the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies is a new original character, Michelle Jones-Watson, not Mary Jane Watson.

Fifteen Years Later is also streaming free on Tubi.

Because Nick Fury being is black is main stream now?

Wasn't he in several billion dollar films? I would say that to the mainstream movie goers, that Sam Jackson is the Nick Fury they are expecting. Just seems an odd move after having so much mainstream success with Jackson.

Well, it is the Ultimate Universe, a side street in the Marvel Multiverse where they get to play around with the characters. Stark's a teenager, Peter Parker is married, She-Hulk is Polynesian and Reed Richards is Doctor Doom.

In the Main Universe Fury is black ( and looks like Sam Jackson) and is the son of the older white Fury.

It sounds like a mess. The Marvel multiverse is going off the rails.

The Ultimate Universe has been around for decades in one form or another, with varying degrees of success. It's a side show. But it did give us Miles Morales.

The Ultimate Universe was concluded 10 years ago with a Crunch, after-which Miles Morales was part of the all new all different 616, and always had been.

Kang is talking about the new Ultimate Universe imprint, which is a completely different timeline, and only 1 years old, created by evil timey whimey Reed Richards from the Original Ultimate imprint/timeline, who went back and stopped 1000s of origins for "many" of the marvel heroes and villains, completely changing the playing field.

Billions was a prestige drama on Showtime, that's very different from a sitcom, and especially a network sitcom, which this probably would be.
