Query fan fiction publications

a troubled tribble

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post here. I'm about to finish my first Star Trek TOS fan fiction story. I'm currently publishing it on FanFiction and AO3 but I'm particularly interested in competitions. So, here are my questions:
1) Are there any Star Trek ff competions and/ or magazines (online and print) that are still active and where I could submit to in 2024?
2) Are there any other online spaces where I could publish my story, apart from TrekWriters Guilt, AdAstra and trekking fanfiction (these are the only places I was able to identify so far)?
3) I could see that people have published their stories in this forum here. Do I need any specific permissions to post my story here? Also, it's a very long story, more like a short novel, so I'm not sure if this would be the right place for it.

Information I could find online is limited as a lot of websites and competitions are no longer active. So, any tips and signposting would be much appreciated. Thank you. :)

Ad Astra runs weekly challenges (akin to a prompt challenge on LJ/DW), and a review hunt for points (with a point store for prizes).

I don't know of any writing competitions for fanfic specifically, anymore. There used to be the Strange New Worlds collections they would hold writing competitions for a while, but that ended long ago.

Thank you for your response. I'm in the process of signing up to AdAstra.👍

You're welcome to post your stories here. No special permissions required if they're within board rules (i.e. no slash and explicit sex scenes). If it's really very long and you don't want to copy it into many posts you could also post a part of it, like the first 3 chapters or something like that and link to the full story if it's publicly accessible elsewhere. It's been done before.

TrekBBS has a bi-monthly writing challenge. It's pinned at the top of

Thank you, I'll check it out

Thank you, Count Zero. Your suggestion of posting the first few chapters and linking to the rest is great- I'll do that. And no, it's not slash, so I'll be able to post here.

The rules to submit for publication with Strange New Worlds was far too restrictive for my liking. In the fine print, there was a clause that said once you gave it to them for review, they claimed copyright and therefore you were not allowed to publish it anywhere else. Not to Trek BBS for free or even to your own Facebook page.

Is it a dot-net or a dot-com? As I recall hearing, one of them is a porn site. Not what you're looking for.

Or is it???
