Zi-O: Wizard has an interesting power set. And it's a sort of interesting twist to have the Another Rider use his powers for nonviolent ends. A bit odd, really, since I'd gotten the impression before that the ARs couldn't really help themselves, that it was sort of a werewolf thing.
Anyway, it's ironic that the Supplemental Project video has Sougo talking about the great acting they're doing, because it just struck me yesterday, and even more so watching the episode now, how much weaker and less charismatic this set of actors is compared to the
Build cast. Those actors were really good and really likeable. This cast is much more bland.
I had to look up that reference to the "black industry." Apparently "black companies" are a term used in Japan for businesses that employ exploitative, sweatshop-like labor conditions, though it's more often office work than the garment industry.
LvP: Another fairly fun character-driven episode. I was wondering why Sakuya was so dumb as to accept the gift necklaces without suspicion, but I guess the carelessness attack from earlier explains that. It's a little disappointing that the Ganglar was defeated before Sakuya took the shot; it'd be better if he'd overcome its effect on his own, like how Keiichiro overcame his anger. But I really liked Tsukasa's tactics in turning the Ganglar's spines back on himself, using the Lupins in sort of an involuntary team-up.
We almost got the enlargment sequence interrupted with Kairi almost firing at Gauche. That was a nice touch
I missed that bit. Whenever a Sentai show has an enlargement sequence like this where a regular monster has to show up physically and perform some action to revive the defeated monster-of-the-week, like Acha/Klank in
Ohranger/Zeo throwing Kocha/Orbus to inject the monster, Bibidebi in
Megaranger biting the monster, Pierre/Jinxer in
GoGoV/Lightspeed Rescue performing an incantation over the monster, or Gauche here, I find it so annoying that the Rangers never anticipate their arrival and shoot them before they can do it. I mean, if they destroyed the catalyst character right then and there, they'd never have to worry about another giant monster again. And it happens every week, practically, so
why do they always act so damn surprised every single time????
