Playmates Toys

These shipping rates are atrocious (and I don’t think in this current climate they will get any better anytime soon), but I bit the bullet and just finally ordered my Tuvix today. :D

I don’t know why, but owning a Tuvix action figure is just so damn funny to me for some reason. I genuinely like the character and the episode, so it won’t just be a joke item to me, but still, the fact that it’s this out-there concept of two characters being combined into one and that it’s an obscure one-off character that no-one outside of fandom will even remember makes it so funny.

I'm impressed every time I compare the figures to the on-screen characters

Guinan has a very detailed costume and hat, Tarchannenian Geordi I'll try to paint black between the veins, and Bashir looks pretty accurate to me, even his more wrinkled uniform :D

Her arms and hands are a little flimsy, but her face is great, and he is simply as good as it gets.

He comes with a pretty detailed mini tractor thingy and accurate cylinder bag! I only got him because of the cadet uniform (I wanna have all the uniforms), but am also really happy with his goodies. The face is not that accurate, but still a nice face. He can be a generic cadet :D

This one blows me away like Worf blew the dish :D
Based on concept art, so the helmet is not the final design, but I'll see what I can do with expanding the black parts a bit. So happy that the rifle has good colors and fits in his hand :D

Cochrane has a great face and hat, the costume is detailed and almost accurate. I'll put him up with my EM Phoenix :D

The likenesses vary, but Sarek is particularly excellent.

Old 2009 Spock is even better for the FC scene, they're more similar in size:

Gowron was not on my list before, but they had him at the flea market, and he looked much better in person. He also comes with a fierce little Targ that makes the same face :D ...and the spiked battle club seems so familiar to me, but where did it appear? Somewhere in the background?

Have Tosk already, never thought I'd need the hunter as well, but he also looked better in person and came with a pretty accurate gun (especially one with a good color!) :D

They had an early Riker as well, so now the early and the late one with their firing and blocking hands can play DS9 - The Rikering ;)

And Neelix is pretty spot on as well (get it... spot on? :D)

"Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Vulcan!"
"Beer, Wine, Champagne?" - "Just coffee, please."
And a cooking show I'd watch :D

I recently did an action figure purge and only kept my Star Wars, Bab5 and Trek figures. Some of the Trek got the purge too for, reasons.. and now with the clear light of only a hundred or so figures I suddenly thought I may go completionist on Playmates Voy. I want to someday *gasp* open them. I want to J/7 them in happy, happy union. I want to finally acquire Threshold Paris. Yes..

I figure I will completionist Voy slowly and then move onto DS9 Playmates.

That's great! I love how Avery said "our communicators are much smaller than this", pointing out the crazy huge Playmates version.

But other than that, an amazing display of toys. Cool to see the prototype bridge with the turbolift too!
