PIC S3 Ships & Tech

 I get it now - my bad...

So, here's the Pioneer:

Its nacelles are angled in at roughly a 60 angle to a center point on a secondary hull-like structure middle-top.

This is the ship in question:

I suppose it's possible that it's the Pioneer, and that the structure I'm seeing in the corner is the little nav deflector hull underneath, but it seems really off-center to the left and rear if it is, compared to the known schematic, and the nacelle pylons on this one look like they go vertically straight down, as opposed to at an angle, to some other structure, also underneath.

This is kind-of bugging me now. What the hell is this thing?

I didn't notice that secondary hull until you posted this. So, not the Franklin either, pity.

You forgot Amliw, Yenrab, Ytteb, Selbbep, Mab Mab and Onid.

Some of those are actually pretty cool sounding...
Yeah, I mined my spam filter for a lot of alien-sounding names for my project. Pretty sure there's a whole bunch named after actual drug names (versus sales names, like how it's called Viagra publicly but the actual drug name is Sildenafil).

I've found that when most folks take their own names and pronounce them backwards, they sound like character names one might see in a Star Wars production. :D

That's the one!!

See that little ship down there on the lower right?

Not quite an exact match, but it looks to me a lot like an old FASA ship called the "Derf" class. Interesting design, but one of the most egregiously bad non-canonical ship names in all of Trek history

DERF!

Engines look farther apart and closer to the hull than the original design, but close.

I've often wondered if maybe it was named for a Fred, since that's what happens if you spell the class name backwards.

Sadly, and to my embarrassment, I never actually noticed that until it was recently pointed out up-thread. :ouch:

I've looked up credits on the first edition FASA Federation Ship Recognition Manual (where the design first emerged) and never saw any Fred, so...

Anybody notice how the phasers for all the StarFleet StarShips finally seem to travel and appear to move at the Speed of Light, just like the TNG Technical Manual.

Finally =D

Anyone have screen caps of the ships at the very ending in dock at the museum? I saw something that I didn't see before and I need to confirm it. Something interesting in the lower ring...

Looking at you, @NCC-73515. Don't let me down! ;)
I was sleeping and then had a meeting :D

It's been in the credits since E1

Did anyone work out what the formation the assimilated fleet was flying? Looked like it was supposed to be a symbol - at first I wondered if it was the diamond symbol used for Jack's transmitter DNA.
Someone a couple of weeks ago mentioned that those formations looked like Terran Empire logos. I could see it.

I agree. Doesn’t really track with the plot, and it’s not really clear what it’s supposed to look like. Unless it’s not looking like anything other than identically configured attack formations and nothing more.

Perhaps it spelt “Borg” in Borg alphabet. All those young minds assimilated just as they were talking part to a parade…
