They just had Chris Rock host and still couldn't get a genuine laugh the entire episode. Holy crap.
I watched the Seth Meyers show once.
I don't think you can blame Seth Meyers for his lameness on that show. The writing is terrible. That's what happens to people when they host late night shows. Dave Letterman was an edgy comic before he ran the Late Show.
Think Stephen Colbert is cool? Wait 6 months. He'll be just as lame as all the rest of them.
Saturday Night Live, for me, hasn't been consistently funny for at least a decade now, and Sarah Silverman hasn't done anything worthwhile outside of Greg the Bunny. SNL's current shortcomings have been made even more glaring since they've been running classic episodes at 10pm.
The problem with watching 60 minute versions of old episodes is that put rose tinted glasses on the past. You're seeing the best 2/3 of that episode and never seeing the three horrible sketches they didI think that's why I put the Will Farrell era on a pedestal, because I saw it on Comedy Central in 60 minute versions.
