Nintendo DS Lite being Discontinued

It looks like Nintendo has finally pulled the plug on the Nintendo DS Lite. According to a memo sent to Gamestop Stores, the Nintendo DS Lite is now discontinued. If you are one of the few people who do not own one, you may want to grab one soon before you miss your chance. For now, though, it seems that the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL will remain alongside the Nintendo 3DS.

Looks like I'm going to finally be buying a backup DS Lite. I'm glad they are pretty cheap right now.

Had mine for 3 years now, its still in good shape, but I knew this was going to happen not long after the 3DS finally shipped.

I don't own one, or really want one, but if I were going to buy one of the three DSs I would but a Lite.

It's half the cost of the 3DS, plays GBA games (right?) and the XL to me seems like a stupid idea and the DSi really doesn't add anything I want for the price.

Thankfully used ones will be around until the end of time if I ever want to buy one.

Does it seem to anybody else like the three generations of DS were released in rather quick succession? I wonder how long it'll take for them to come up with the next generation. Probably as long as it takes for them to find a new gadget or gizmo to add on to it.

So there was a DS, then a DS Lite (which I have I believe), then a DSi, and now a 3DS? Yowza.

Next thing you'll tell me they're rushing out a "Wii 2" in a year...

Yup, the original DS and DS Lite have a second port for playing GBA cartridges allowing for double the game library the DSi and DSi XL have, they chopped out the GBA port to allow for an SD card port so DSWare could be downloaded, which is shit and annoying to download so yeah.
That being said I have a DS Lite and a 3DS.

In fact there are some DS games that can't be played to their full potential on the DSi, (Pokemon for example) since they use the dual port system to create added effects in the game.
