Night Court revival

I really enjoyed this episode. Liked how the whole cast was involved. Finally after this whole time the cast feels like an assemble. It’s always going to be Dan and Abby at the center but the others have more to do. Particularly love that Flobert is absent in less and less episodes. He is all but a regular. Also love that Dan’s memoir is not a one off thing. It’s been running through multiple episodes. The reference to Dan saving someone in an Igloo by performing an appendectomy is direct reference to original series. 3 parter “Danny Got His Gun” which started end of season 5 and start of season 6.

FYI when the show returns next on March 25th the Wheelers are back again!

Thank you. I think I entirely missed that episode; if I saw it, I've long forgotten it.

Hmm. Night Court:TOS is only $57 on Amazon for a full-series DVD set. That's not bad at all. That's about what Alibris wants for a used copy.

I rhought they missed a real opportunity to "recast" the original Night Court cast for this musical. Seeing actors portraying Harry, Christine, Mac and Bull would have been a fun idea to play around with.

Technically, the original cast was Harry, Lana, Dan, Liz, Bull, and Selma (not counting the defense attorney who was replaced after the pilot episode). I'm pretty sure that the cast members with the most musical theater experience would've been Paula Kelly and Ellen Foley, the public defenders from seasons 1 & 2 before Markie Post came aboard.

Last nights episode was easily one of my favorites. The Wheelers, all family members, dominate the whole episode this time. One of the few episodes where an actual trial drives the plot. Love that Flobert is starting to appear in every episode. He is the closest character to Bull. An oldball who exists in his own personal reality and logic.

Dan, Gurgs and Flobert are my favorites in this version of the show. I work with a couple guys who are cousins that Flobert would fit right in with.

Given that on Tuesday Evening, I was sitting in Disney Hall, for a truly magnificent concert (Emmanuelle Haïm conducting Le Concert d’Astrée, in a program of Rameau and Handel), I didn't get back to Night Court until last night. And I loved it, too. The ending, with Abby taking on Wheeler attributes (the twang and the bad luck) was a particularly clever surprise.

Another Big Bang alum this week. Laura Spencer (Raj's girlfreind Emily) as Abby's ex's new GF.
