NFL Training Camp / Preseason 2010

Do you think Jay Cutler misses Ryan Clady about now?

I think Cutler is missing Ron fucking Turner about now, given that under his offense the last four years, the Bears allowed a total of 27 sacks in preseason, never more than nine in any one preseason. The Bears are at 16 through three preseason games.

I'm not missing Turner, though. As far as I'm concerned, he still needs to be shot into the sun.

So does Martz. Seriously, if he doesn't get it through his head that the Bears simply do not have the offensive line to let Cutler make 7-step drops (upon which Martz's entire offense is based), Cutler's going to be sacked into a coma, and he won't wake up until 2012 at the soonest.

So Matt Leinart looks to be losing the QB job to Derek Anderson (Anderson is starting the final preseason game anyway) and doesn't know why. Does he have a legitimate gripe? Or is his response a prime example of why he'll probably lose the starting gig?

It's never cool to go to the press, especially when you acknowledge you haven't even tried to speak to the coach.

I think Leinart has some basis for the gripe (and obviously there are things happening behind the scenes that we don't know), but like any other coach Whisenhunt's job is to put the best team on the field every Sunday.

Leinart has essentially been on the shelf for 5 years. Who knows what he's capable of anymore? Throwing 20 passes in preseason as the back up isn't going to tell you much.

An ESPN report has rumors of Leinart being of interest to the Bills, Raiders and Giants, but the Bills and Raiders have denied it.

Hey, the five years Leinart will be in the league for after this season has already surpassed the tenures of other first round QB greats like JaMarcus Russell, Akili Smith, Todd Marinovich, Heath Shuler, Cade McNown, Jim Druckenmiller and Ryan Leaf, and will tie Dan McGwire!

If Ryan Leaf was able to latch on with three other teams, Leinart should be able to land somewhere. He's just in serious need of an attitude adjustment; it's pretty clear that his draft status is giving him an entirely undeserved sense of entitlement.

If worse comes to worst, he'll always be able to crawl into a hot tub with a multitude of attractive women.

If Leinart had been given more a chance instead of the years of Warner, which did bring them the one magical Super Bowl run, whose to know what could have happened?

Patriots rookie LB Brandon Spikes in leaked sex tape...

Can't wait to see how Belichick responds to this one.

On the other hand, mentoring under a QB like Warner should have helped. There's an awful lot of rookie QBs that have come into the NFL with big expectations only to be chewed up from the get-go. A little learning from the sidelines can go a long way. Aaron Rogers had to wait years while backing up Favre, but that wait seems to be paying off now.

Byron Leftwich suffered a serious knee injury, so it looks like Dennis Dixon will be starting until Big Ben returns.

Texans running back situation is looking grim. Arian Foster (undrafted free agent) and Chris Henry (a Titans cast off) are the only two healthy backs left. Ben Tate is out for the season with an ankle injury. Foster has been looking pretty good, though he doesn't have much NFL experience. Texans continue to be well stocked with good recievers and tight ends and one good QB though. Our backup QBs are questionable even though Booty looked OK last night.

That's right, we have a QB named Booty so the Texans can now make Booty calls.

So Timby: Bears...4-12 or 5-11 this year?

Let's see:

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 12 vs. Detroit Lions, 12pm -- LOSS

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 19 at Dallas Cowboys, 12pm -- LOSS

Week 3: Monday, Sept. 27 vs. Green Bay Packers, 7:30 p.m. - LOSS

Week 4: Sunday; Oct. 3 at New York Giants, 7:20 p.m. -- WIN

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 10 at Carolina Panthers, 12pm -- WIN

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 17 vs. Seattle Seahawks, 12pm -- WIN

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 24 vs. Washington Redskins, 12pm -- LOSS

Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 31 bye week
Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 7 vs. Buffalo Bills (in Toronto), 12pm -- WIN

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 14 vs. Minnesota Vikings, 12pm --

Week 11: Thursday, Nov. 18 at Miami Dolphins, 7:20 p.m. -- LOSS

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 28 vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 12pm -- LOSS

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 5 at Lions, 12pm -- LOSS

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 12 vs. New England Patriots, 12pm -- LOSS

Week 15: Monday, Dec. 20 at Vikings, 7:30 p.m. -- LOSS

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 26 vs. New York Jets, 12pm -- LOSS

Week 17: Sunday, Jan. 2 at Packers, 12pm -- LOSS
Yeah, I'd say 4 - 12 sounds like a pretty reasonable expectation. If they only have one or two wins before the bye week, I think Lovie will be fired (and replaced with Martz :barf:).

So, at least the Lions will get two wins.

I'll give it a shot:

1) @ Chicago - WIN
2) vs. Philly - WIN/LOSS (All depending on if Kolb is a bust or not)
3) @ Minnesota - LOSS
4) @ Green Bay - LOSS
5) vs. St. Louis - WIN
6) @ NY Giants - LOSS
7) Bye
8) vs. Washington - WIN/LOSS (depending on McNabb)
9) vs. NY Jets - LOSS
10) @ Buffalo - WIN
11) @ Dallas - LOSS
12) vs. New England - LOSS
13) vs. Chicago - WIN
14) vs. Green Bay - LOSS
15) @ Tampa Bay - WIN
16) @ Miami - WIN
17) vs. Minnesota - WIN/LOSS (depending on Minnesota resting their starters or not)

6-10 or 3-13 if all my WIN/LOSS's go to LOSS.
