News New York Comic-Con Panel Coverage

They haven't said.

Talosians have been confirmed for Season 2.

Picard show is not connected to the events of DSC Season 2.

January 17th will be the first episode of Season 2.

And apparently, Spock WILL have a beard.
:techman:

Be interesting to see how they ruin Section 31. I would love to see "Contol" but I doubt they would put that in.

In what way could they 'ruin' Section 31 - On screen in BOTH DS9 and ENT it's just been shown as a clandestine organization who does things to protect the Federation that Star Fleet can't or won't do.

Star Trek novels aren't canon (Thank god given some of the truly ridiculous stuff these writers have come up with over the years across the full Trek spectrum from TOS to ENT.)

It was a great panel. The cast obviously has a lot of respect for each other. I enjoyed it immensely. In fact I liked it so much I have decided to get CBS all access while the show runs to watch and support this group of actors. I may not like CBS but I sure as hell like this cast.

Ruin? Maybe not. The creators are trying out new ideas but seem to be latching on to established items far more than any previous Trek series instead of doing bolder attempts... to the point where fanwanking in TNG season 1 (or all of ENT) look(s) positively universe-expanding by comparison. So like or dislike any aspect of the show, the fact remains: STD is suffering from small universe syndrome. That's not producing the most desired results so instead of taking risks in fear of not getting audiences, they just continue making their universe even smaller?

So, we got another example of DSC novel writers co-operation with the show staff here.

The name of Saru’s homeworld that Doug Jones revealed at this panel, “Kaminar”, was first mentioned in the most recent novel “Fear Itself” which came out in June.

The very first DSC novel called it “Kelpia”, I guess it hadn’t been decided or finalized when that one was written. Or they changed it since it was written.

So, Star Wars has Kamino and Star Trek has Kaminar. What's next, Kaminas? Kaminan? Kaminamos?
