News new Stargate series in the works (continuation of TV universe, no reboot)

TL/TR: New series is not a reboot, but a continuation of the SG1/SGA/SGU TV universe.

Brad Wright, writer & produces on Stargate TV series:
"I just want everybody to know that MGM and I are working on something. It’s just too early to talk about. And it’s partly too early because there is a pandemic going on. And that’s kind of ground a few things to a halt.
But we are working on something. It’s very exciting. It’s something that we have been talking about for a while now. And I love it — I’m excited to have the possibility of making it someday soon. Or someday, period!
I’ll say this much: It exists in the universe that you already know. It’s not a reboot, it’s not a completely new thing. It’s a continuation. And I’ll leave it at that. I’m not allowed to say anything more! I’m sworn to secrecy."

I'm super excited by not only is a new series in the works, but also it's a continuation of the beloved TV universe

Best not to get carried away. Stargate Origins was in the TV universe, but it didn't leave much of an impression. On the other hand, Wright's involvement this time around is a promising sign.

Yeah, same thing with Farscape. I would love for it to happen but I'm not confident.

While I'm not going to get my hopes up, of all the sci-fi shows I like that have had rumors of coming back for years, Stargate is at least more likely in my opinion then stuff like Firefly or Babylon 5. Farscape I probably put as least likely. It lasted longer than stuff like Firefly, but didn't make as big a dent in popular culture. Even Babylon 5 still gets mentioned more on occasion, even if it's usually being made fun of or compared to DS9.

Stargate Universe was way ahead of it's time. I think in the streming era, it would have thrived.

Like everyone else, I hated it at the time. The tonal shift from SG-1/SGA (which I love very much) was enourmous.

I enjoyed the hell out of SG1 but it and Atlantis ran their course creatively. Universe I gave up on.

I'm still waiting on the movie sequel with Kurt Russel.

I was in the minority and enjoyed Universe. It wasn't perfect, but I loved the tone of the series. Very pleased to see this will (if it goes ahead) be a continuation, rather then a reboot.

Well SG-1 is going to Netflix, so perhaps deals are being made for Netflix to fund a new series.

I just don't see SG-1/extended universe as having enough of a fanbase still sticking around to sustain a 'continued universe' story TBH. The 'reboot/stargate' thing made more sense at least from an expanding the interest level IMO.

Are you really going to pick-up new fans who haven't watched the past series?

(Maybe this is a troll and it will be a continuation of the cartoon )
