Also, Sulu showed up in Lower Decks a few months after the comment you were replying to was posted.

Does anyone know what is happening with any new Short Treks whether there's anything in the works, or if the whole shebang has been forgotten. I haven't heard a peep regarding it.

It was created to fill production gaps in the new streaming age started by Discovery...a very complex show. The series got a best Emmy nod when they were barely trying.

Point is...

If there are production gaps between the new and old regimes at Paramount they could revive it. It proved its quality.

The general uncertainty regarding the streaming industry at the moment pretty much guarantees there will be no more Short Treks.

But not if it didn't make money. Again, the whole Skydance merger came about because Paramount was struggling financially. They're not just going to throw more money out during a transition.
