New landscape of the Delta Quadrant

Arpy

Vice Admiral
Admiral
This post on Twitter got me to wondering what the “current” landscape of the Delta Quadrant might be like after everything that we know has happened since Voyager first passed through it.

What do you think? Might a cured Vidiian Sodality…are they even still called a “sodality”…become a stabilizing force in their region of the Quadrant? …Might they have been assimilated now that they’re cured?

We know that the spatial trajector technology the Sikarians used in season one’s “Prime Factors” was assimilated by the Borg, per PIC s2. Do we think the Borg assimilated a trajector platform nearer to them, or have they spread throughout the Quadrant and most of what we saw on VOY is now Borg?

Or is there mass chaos throughout the Quadrant as per PIC s3 there are no more Borg? What happened to all those trillions or quadrillions of cybernetic beings back in the DQ?

"Prodigy" explores this a bit. The Borg are still around, but far less numerous than before. The Kazon are also Stull around. A number of species from the Alpha and Beta Quadrants are showing up in the Delta Quadrant more frequently, possibly due to the transwarp conduit Voyager used to get home. The Caretaker is another possible reason why we're seeing Caitians and Tellqrites in the Delta Quadrant. I think there was also an episode where a Kazon was using salvaged Borg technology for something, and of course it backfired.

As for other possible scenarios: I suspect the Ocampa returned to their planet's surface and had some conflict with the Kazon. The Vidiians meanwhile are gonna have some problems with their tarnished reputation, even if their Phage is cured.

Tellarites may have been warp capable long enough, that some have reached the DQ a long time ago.

Yeah, The Vidiians are screwed either way, Local powers are gonna target them. Might be some kind of a coalition against them. A liberated Talaxia would be nice too.

keep in mind that Prodigy takes place before the romulan supernova. so the borg we see in prodigy are what happened to them after Admiral janeway's pathogen, rather than the aftermath of anything that happened in picard.

I paused my rewatch of the series a while back. Maybe should get back to it with an eye on how things might have changed for their interactions with the locals.

The Phage being cured was a throwaway line in the episode "Think Tank" to show how smart they were, and how threatening they might be to Voyager. But that one line could have huge implications for that part of the Quadrant. The Vidiians were a sophisticated people with a considerable territory and interactions with lots of aliens. A healthy Sodality could have hugely stabilizing effect on that part of space.

Other aliens they interacted with would be exactly the same. The Devore Imperium wiped their record of interacting with Voyager having been bested by them. Nothing more to see here, folks. Keep rounding up telepaths. Business as usual.

Given the Think Tank ended up lying about why the hazari were attacking them, it is possible that they lied about curing the phage (after all, that was the only examples they had of their 'abilities' that involved someone voyager knew, and it was a culture 30,000+ lightyears away from where the Think Tank met voyager.(as yoyager had spent three+ years at warp, been thrown 9,500+ly by kes, several thousand lightyears using a bodged together slipstream drive after defeating arturis, and travelled 20,000ly using a stolen transwarp coil between the region that the viidians were, and where the think tank met them.)

And yet, Voyager didn’t bat an eye at the distance. Could they be lying? Sure, everyone could be about all sorts of things…and yet they’re usually not. If anything what this says to me is that the Think Tank could show up in the Alpha Quadrant, super pissed off at one Admiral Kathryn Janeway.

Season 3 PRO story? I have a feeling Jason Alexander would be in for it.
