In a way, they're cleverly playing off the popular wisdom that Kato/Bruce Lee stole the show on the old tv series. Which is a fun angle to explore . . . .
There's actually nothing clever about it. It's about as blatant and obvious as you can get. It's also not very good. .
Well, it's clever in that it takes a potential pitfall, that most people remember the sidekick as being cooler than the hero, and makes a virtue of it. As to whether it works . . . well, we'll find out in January.
(For what it's worth, I actually played the Hornet straight in my own story, but that was aimed at a different market.)
