New animated show announced... Star Wars: Resistance

After recently watching Netflix's cel-shaded animated series The Dragon Prince (from several Avatar: The Last Airbender veterans), I'm startled at how much cruder Resistance's cel-shading is. Prince's cel-shading was so well-done that it looked almost indistinguishable from 2D, and just generally looked good (though I think it overcompensated a bit in reducing the frame rate to give it more of a traditional-animation feel). Resistance looks no better than Iron Man: Armored Adventures did 6-9 years ago. I think it's that the colors are too bright and flat, the shadows too dark and sharp-edged, the lines too thin, so there's little sense of texture. It's garish and it feels cheap.
Whoever's doing Leia's voice does a pretty good job. Apparently it's Rachel Butera, an impressionist who also plays Natasha Fatale on Amazon's Rocky and Bullwinkle revival.

Another T3 type droid appeared as Jaxxon's droid in Star Wars Adventures Annual 2018, along with a familiar space station. Also, I wonder if those could be the Republic's T85 X-Wings.This droid looks a lot like the astromechs from the KOTOR/SWTOR eras.

Now that we've seen and heard Leia, Phasma and more Poe... and more of the bad guy stuff is excellent. The shot of Starkiller Base is amazing!! Check out the clouds suspended over the chasm... neat. The racing stuff doesn't interest me but all this spying for the Resistance sounds excellent. This puts October 7th on my radar for sure.
I like the look. I thought Rebels looked too much like Clone Wars-lite but this seems a lot more fresh.

Yeah, Leia definitely needs to be recast. She's attempting to downplay what she did by claiming that it was stupid mistake and as a vocal impersonator she just wanted to impersonate her voice. Pretty weak argument to begin with, but it gets worse for her.

The ironic thing is, when that trailer dropped on Thursday morning, I looked up who did the Leia voice since I was curious -- and if I'd just waited a few more hours, the question would've been answered for me. Bizarre that someone I'd never heard of until Thursday noonish became infamous 3 hours later.

We know Bobby Moynihan voices a 'background character named Orka' but we haven't heard him in any of these trailers yet, have we?
I'm loving the red TIE interceptor fighter, from the front it has the shape of the Inquisitor's TIE but when it passes by we can see the sleek lines that form the TIE interceptor. It seems likely the stormtrooper in red is piloting this ship. Oh... the toys/Lego of this one are gonna look good.
Maybe this red starfighter is part of an elite First Order squadron, like Inferno Squard of Battlefront II? I would love it if these were the foil to our ace pilot heroes - who, of course, join the Resistance by the end of the series.
