News Netflix orders The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to series

Holy shit, I was kind of joking when I said something wicked but it looks like I was right on the money! :D

The bodies are dropping left and right. Dr. Cerberus, Hilda, Zelda, all three of the Weird Sisters (including dear Prudence who I've grown to love), Robin Goodfellow, and Harvey? Oh, and Sabrina's eternal imprisonment (why did she even go back there after she got the 30 pieces of silver?) With all of these deaths, it seems likely we're going to get some kind of hard reset and most of these deaths will be reversed in some way (maybe something to do with the Green Man?), although I suspect that any such reversal will probably leave the tragedy of Cerberus' death untouched.

This season has been badly missing the Church of Night and the foundation it brought. Between’s Blackwood’s way and Edward/Sabrina there was a lot of meat. Instead by overthrowing everything constantly towards a matriarchy from who they pray to to who leads them and hell they have undermined their strongest card.

There is good to be had this season, but it could be better if they were trying to reform not revolutionize the CoN the way Sabrina is trying to reform hell. Her trying to keep up hell and bring down souls was the strongest part of the season and should have gotten a much larger focus.

Sabrina as always tries to has her cake and eat it too.

Well, I was right about a hard rest...mostly. I was wrong about the means, having completely forgotten about the time egg. That said, I was still surprised (but also relieved) that the show rolled back even the tragedy of Cerberus' death.

One death that wasn't rolled back was Dorcas, who, honestly, I won't miss (and I guess that finally resolves the awkwardness of Abigail Cowen not being in the opening credits along with the other two Weird Sisters), but I do like how her death has one consequence: Prudence is furious with Ambrose for stopping her from killing Blackwood when she had the chance. While I understand her logic, i.e. Blackwood directed the madness of Agatha towards Dorcas' death, I think she forgot in the heat of the moment that Pan was the one who made Agatha go mad in the first place. Whether she's that truth later on, I don't know but I wouldn't expect it happening anytime soon.

Coming back to the time egg, I didn't expect a crazy time paradox to suddenly become a major part of this series, but I'm glad the show isn't going to hand wave it away. What Sabrina ended up doing, creating a second paradox so she could rule in Hell while also be a relatively normal teenage witch in Greendale, will have dire consequences as Ambrose portends. And I'm betting whatever Blackwood released will play a big part in that.

I really enjoyed this season and how it shook things up with Blackwood on the outs and Sabrina juggling her duties in Hell and "regular" life in Greendale, while also facing the growing threat of the Pagans (not quite the freaks of Something Wicked, but still a good enough head nod to them). It's not what I expected to happen after the last part ended but I like the season all the more for that. The whole situation of the old gods coming back between the Pagans' first god, the Green Man, and Blackwood's hunt for the Eldritch, gave me a nice American Gods vibe, if only dealing with the really old gods and the Christian lore.

I was worried for a brief moment that the show was going to mess up what was going on with Harvey and Roz and try to get Sabrina back with Harvey, but fortunately that was only a painful tease. Instead, it looks like the show has committed the Harvey/Roz relationship, which is better for the show. I don't want Sabrina going back to Nick, partially because I found him so bland in the first place, but also because of what he said and did. She doesn't need him, either version of her. I'm also really happy that the show provided a real and honest romance for Theo. I was momentarily annoyed when it was revealed that Robin was actually Robin Goodfellow and he was playing a trick, but it was a nice twist to have him actually fall in love with Theor and switch sides. Theo needed that and it's a great positive story for trans people.

I don't know where you are in the season, so I'll keep it vague, but I have to completely disagree. As I said in my overall thoughts, I really enjoyed the shake up for this season and the conflict with the Pagans. It's a good and fresh story direction for the show.

That's a real and true criticism, all the way through the end of part 3. At some point, that's really going to hurt her.

So Faustus turned into mid-season 6 through season 7 Dukat....Mmm

This was by far the best season. At times it seemed there were so many antagonists in the story: Faustus Blackwood, Lucifer, Caliban, the Pagans. But they made this season more interesting, as Sabrina, her mortal friends, and the Spellman family also forged unlikely alliances; namely, with Lilith, a Pagan named Robin Goodfellow, and the wayward witches.

The Pagans were unique in that their magical powers were deemed much more "ancient" and earth-based. But elements of classical mythology aren't necessarily older than Judeo Christian lore; i.e., biblical concepts of heaven and hell, angels and demons, were derived from the Old Testament, which was written thousands of years BCE at different time periods. So who's to say Pan, Circe, et al, were older than Lucifer?

Looking forward to Part 4.

Given how long ago Part 4 (which is really the second half of Season 2) was shot I don't think it will have come as a surprise to anyone involved.

I will be disappointed to see this show go--I enjoyed it, but even moreso I was continually amazed how they got away with the concept of Satanic witches as the protagonists, right down to using statues and images from the church of Satan. Ballsy, to say the least.
I believe they actually did get sued by The Church of Satan after the first season came out. Not sure what ever became of the lawsuit.

The reason the statue of Satan at the school was destroyed was part of the settlement. Or why it wasn't rebuilt, rather, since I think it was destroyed at the end of the first season.

I know about that one--there was a Canadian connection there. The Nth Doctor's report sounds believable.

I was thinking more about how I can't believe the religious right in the U.S. didn't turn this series into a huge scandal. Maybe that would have given the show more seasons.

Yeah, I'm surprised by that, too. Or even the fringe folk who literally (literally) believed Harry Potter promoted witchcraft.

The final season, part, whatever, comes out on December 31:
