Ncuti Gatwa is the 15th Doctor

though he's got a connection to Doctor Who through his mother (Wanda Ventham who was in Time and the Rani).

Plus Bill Bailey who has appeared in Who and apparently brought a foundling bird backstage but sadly it just missed Cummerbund. According to the book I bought Mum today from an RSPB site.

Now he could be fibbing to keep the real situation secret, but in Russell's interview in the 'Radio Times' where he talks about the proposed schedule for S3, he says the plan is to start shooting once Ncuti finishes in "The Importance of Being Earnest". (For which I've just booked my tickets.)

So February next year.

It sounds plausible anyway. They'd then likely meet a spring 2026 premiere.

I don't know if it's the result of the bi-generation or simply because they're now freed themselves of survivor's guilt, but I find Fifteen to have a joyous passion for life and a mandate to embrace all that it has to offer, good or bad. This makes this Doctor perhaps the most sociable and down-to-earth incarnation to date perhaps, but it also makes him more emotional and human than most. Some may call this sense of vulnerability a weakness, and perhaps it is, but the Second Doctor was occasionally scared by monsters too and the Fifth Doctor didn't always operate from a position of strength either.

But I think what the Fifteenth Doctor maintains from all of his predecessors is a willingness to help and face overwhelming odds, even if he may need just dumb luck (or help from others) to pull it off.
