National Treasure: Book of Secrets - SPOILERS

Just saw a press screening of NT2 tonight and my anticipation was rewarded.

VERY cool movie, and the characters stay true to the first. A few minor story alterations at the beginning to get things going, but the hunt is almost as exciting (though not as intricate) as the first movie.

Helen Mirren (who will still look great when she's 90) was a great addition, but I wanted to see more of her (so to speak).

Yes, there are the usual occasional gaps in logic, and "what is THAT for's", but I really, really liked this one.

I hope it becomes a film series ... and it easily could.

I also enjoyed it.

I'd tell anyone that if you enjoyed the first one, there's really no way you wouldn't enjoy this. The same thing would probably apply to those who didn't like the first one...you wouldn't like this.

I'll be seeing it when it opens over here, loved the first one.

And dude, Helen Mirren is only 62.

Yes, I know. I said she'll STILL be looking great when she's 90!

Enjoy the flick and happy holidays! :)

Oh sorry I misread your post. Guess I'm way to used to people bashing people online

TG...completely agreed on all counts. I walked out of the theater last night with a smile on my face even though Book of Secrets was the advance screening I was looking forward to least this week.

It's fun, smartly written, well acted...Jon Voight and Helen Mirren have a wonderful way of playing off each other in their verbal sparring scenes. I was very very impressed. (And it was halfway educational, to boot.)

I only read the OP and will not return to this thread until at least Saturday or Sunday afterI've seen the movie. Glad to know a fellow poster liked, even better one that more times than not seems to have similar tastes.

I can't wait to see this movie.

Several months ago there was a list plan for the long range forecast of Disney movie releases. On that list was Pirates 4-6 after 2010, and NT 3 and 4.

Well, you just gave me my Christmas present! Thanks!

It's a rumoured list of ideas Disney has, but they can't think of anything new and they do well, so I don't see why they wouldn't make more. I rather they release them in the summer through.

Loved the cameo by Peter Woodward, as an officer in the palace.

I wasn't able to stick around for the end credits ... The fan who gets Riley to sign his book at the end ... was that Jewel Staite? If not, she sure bore a striking resemblance.

Anyone else loved the Goofy cartoon? What a nice surprise!

This was a movie that, to me, fell apart at the end. Ed Harris is set up as a good villain and it looks like it's going to be the he and Ben repeating their own personal civil war.

Then Ed Harris decides that he's in it for personal glory. And the story stops making sense. I was really digging it until that came up. I thought that him manipulating Ben into finding the treasure by casting doubt on his lineage was clever.

However, Helen Miren is really good looking. And Jon Voight was better than he was in Transformers.

I saw it and it was pretty good, but I liked the first one better. I'm hoping a third installment will focus on what page 47 was in the Book of Secrets.

Damn, was that him?! I thought he looked familiar...

Anyway, I loved this flick. I had high expectations after the first one, and I wasn't disappointed. I love the weaving of real history with fiction (ala Clive Cussler) and this one left us with the idea of a sequel (anyone who's seen it will know what loose end I'm referring to).

Well worth it, can't wait for the DVD next year.

Let's see, we had the Revolutionary War theme in the first one with Englishmen as the baddies, then a Civil War theme with Southerners as the baddies in part two. What's next? Were the Nazis looking for any hidden treasures during World War II? ;)

There was a movie about them looking for a some sort of a Ark. :)
