Mythbusters - Kari's Temporary Replacement

Specieswide, isn't blond one of the rarest hair colors? That's why it's traditionally been held in such high esteem. If blondes are a dime a dozen, that's more to do with hair dye than genetics. (Red hair is actually the rarest color -- naturally, at least.)

True, it's a hair-dye (or bleach) thing for me. I generally (but not always) prefer women with their natural hair color. I know so many beautiful brunettes, raven-hairs and red-heads who dye or bleach their hair blonde who then look... plain. Laura Preppon from That 70's Show is an example.

And while blonde is my least favorite hair-color on women, I'm not really anti-blonde. I consider Reese Witherspoon to be the prettiest woman on the face of the planet. And since Kari Byron is in the top ten on my list, any replacement, however temporary, will come up short IMHO. Besides, I was mainly just giving Hermiod a friendly poke. :)

You basically summed up exactly how I feel on the subject. The only women who I think look better as blondes are those who are natural blondes.

Still, appearance is a superficial standard to judge someone by, and Ms. Combs certainly deserves a fair shake. Regardless of her looks or her coloring or whatever, what matters is whether she makes a good Mythbuster. Kari is certainly irreplaceable, but that doesn't mean someone else can't do a good job. (Though I would've loved to have Scottie back. And whatever happened to intern Jess?)

^Presumably she still works for Jamie off camera. M5 has a number of employees who don't appear on the show.

I really miss Scottie she was really cool.

:)

Is this conversation really happening? How many of you own that Maxim spread that Kari did? :p

:shyly raises hand:

Kari is "unconventionaly" hot, though. And her hotness is cranked up by her geek-interests.

This new girl -just from that picture of her in the bio- strikes me as "conventionaly hot."

Give me unconventional any day.

It's kind of weird, because I always saw Scottie as the unconventional girl and Kari as the standard TV girl. Go figure.

Yeah, she's definitely great looking in the conventional sense, to the point where I found her completely distracting when she was introduced to the show.

^Kari appeared intermittently from the very first pilot episode onward, so I'm not sure what you mean by "when she was introduced."

When she actually joined the on-camera cast and became more than just a random worker in the background?

She was little more than a glorified "extra" there.

And, to many's recolection, she was most prominently featured in the "Airline Toilet Seat" episode when she was in the flesh-toned bodysuit getting her ass photographed. :)

That was the second pilot, which I got confused with the first. Either way, she had a prominent appearance at the very beginning of the series.

Her arse wasn't photographed - it was use for a mold.

She was there and seen but saying she was "prominent" (other than the shot of her ass) is probably a little extreme.

What's odd is I recall her being somewhat more shy with a "diiferent personality" when we saw her in those early episode than the "character" she has become on the show.

Hey, it's been six and a half years since that episode came out and you immediately recognized exactly what scene I was talking about. I'd call that prominent. Not a large role, but a highly memorable one. Tell me, what else do you recall about that particular episode? ;)

As we've scene in multiple episodes, Mythbusters work on multiple projects over the period of a day, many of which are for various episodes which come out over time, and they have hectic work schedules from early moring to sometimes late night hours, and time limits on projects. I predict eventually, she'll become a part-time Mythbuster, and eventually just leave the series all together to concentrate on raising her kid.

She was shy around the beginning, as opposed to Grant -- who's first episode just re-ran today, which featured me laughing maniacally and throwing little popping fireworks at Tory's feat and telling him to dance. :D
