Most portrayed female fictional character

No, I meant the mother Mary, but the other one works, too.

Most likely not fictional even if she wasn't a virgin.
Depends on how you define the character. There was a real Macbeth of Scotland, but that doesn't mean that Shakespeare's depiction of him wasn't fictional.

I understand your point but by that argument, Abe Lincoln is a fictional character because of Star Trek, iZombie, and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. And JFK is a fictional president who met Superman.

Depends on the instance. The Lincoln of Vampire Hunter is absolutely fictional. The central character of the TV miniseries based on the Gore Vidal novel "Lincoln", not so much.

An even better example: Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo were real soldiers in Julius Caesar's army, but the characters of Rome are fictional. So sure, we can assume that there was a historical Jesus figure, who would necessarily have had a mother, but beyond that, any depictions of her life would have to be called... ;)

Given the paucity of historical records going back to Roman times (or biblical times) and the tendency for rulers to write history to suit their own needs in any event, any account of what real people were like in that era is at best speculative. Therefore, again using your logic, Lucius Vorenus, Titus Pullo and even Ceasar himself are fictional characters.

Maybe I should have said - purely fictional character?

Probably.
