MLB Pseudo-Season 2020: Roger, Dodgers

Joe Buck and John Smoltz are the worst broadcasting duo I've ever heard. Joe and Smoltz couldn't handle all the hard hit balls by the Dodgers. I thought they were going to have to wipe themselves up after every fly ball. The only worse broadcasters in sports are ARod and Beth Mowins.

IDK, Buck and Aikman (NFL) are as bad or worse.

I think Smoltz is excellent. I just wish he had a better broadcasting partner.

Smoltz is awful. He started off as a good broadcaster, but he's just an old grumpy man now who hates change. A guy that says home runs kill rallies.

"Hey look at this nice stadium that didn't need to be replaced, LOL! thanks for the billions you fools"

Ugh, Smotlz and Buck just spent half an inning talking football, replace them both.

Smoltz has absolutely no worthwhile stories or anecdotes to offer, and his analysis, such as it is, is piss-poor. During Game 1, he made a long-winded argument saying that COVID-19 protocols were good because it forced players to stay in the dugouts instead of bonding in the clubhouse, meaning they were obviously talking exclusively about baseball?

Um, okay? (Granted, I'll fully admit that I was high as a fucking kite in a hospital bed on painkillers during Game 1, and the combination of a hospital bed plus a Fox baseball telecast plus John Smoltz is enough to make me cranky as just about anything under the sun, but Jesus, dude, try having a coherent thought once in a while. I know you can do it.)

Don't get me wrong, Buck sucks dong, but Smoltz is a cranky old man and actively drags the broadcast down. I'd almost rather have Verducci back in the booth, and most days I'd rather have my penis flayed than listen to Verducci's babbling.

Yeah, but Smoltz is better than Tim McCarver.

Dodgers pull a "Double Buckner"...

There was just so much to unpack on that play: Taylor booting the ball. Will Smith bobbling the catch. Arozarena eating utter shit as he rounded third. Jansen having a tantrum on the mound and forgetting that on a play like that, the pitcher always, always, always backs up the catcher. That was peak clownball, and it was amazing. I had to re-watch the clip like three times when I woke up this morning just to be sure I didn't just smoke some really strong weed last night.

I looked at tonight's lineups, then remembered tonight is also Postseason Kershaw vs. Tyler fuckin' Glasnow, and suddenly wondered if I have enough weed. I'm not entirely sure I do.

I mean, there's only two ways this ends: Kersh puts on a Herculean performance to wipe away all his misdeeds, or Roberts over-manages the game yet again and it ends with, like, Hunter Renfroe hitting a walk-off grand slam, right?

Yep, when they were reviewing that "tag" at 2nd base in the first...he comes up w/ some bullshit thing referencing a Tom Clancy novel, instead of the tried and true, "The tie always goes to the runner." Whatta moron. I saw it on multiple replays and was too close to call.

When is "The Hunt For (Reds) Blue October" gonna come up?
