The Angels are doing the same thing the Nolan Ryan-led Rangers did. Don't forget, it was just a few years ago that Ryan blamed Hamilton quitting chewing tobacco for his struggles at the plate. Never mind the fact that he's, you know, a human being, not cattle.

I'm fine with this. You don't need a closer when you aren't going to win and there was shockingly no money involved with shipping out BJ Upton which is truly amazing considering how bad that contract is. The Braves replace one expensive useless CF for a cheaper doppelganger (also useless) in Cameron Maybin.

Nobody likes rebuilding but the Braves have replenished the farm system and unloaded bad money contracts this offseason. If you expected to see them compete this year, you are going to be disappointed. The other alternative is to throw money at journeyman "name" players like the Yankees and tread water indefinitely. The Braves are a couple years away but have time for their prospects to mature and will have money to spend in free agency.

I think this needs to be repeated. The San Diego Padres just took on both B.J Upton and Craig Kimbrel's contracts in totality. Holy shit.

(Update) Braves already DFA's Carlos Quinton. This was definitely a mutual back scratching trade to help each other clean out their rosters.
