MLB Offseason 2010-11

Finally got tickets for the Saturday of the Twins' home opening weekend. Not quite the home opener, but close enough. Still doesn't feel like baseball season to me, though.

^The kind of dumbass that lost hundreds of millions in the Madoff scheme.

Fuck that team, I'm done with them, and it feels good. I think I'm leaning towards rooting for the Twins this year. No idea why, just seems like a nice team to root for.

I've always felt the same about the Twins. Don't know why, but I just kind of like them.

Doesn't mean I won't be cheering against 'em when they play the Jays on April 1st, though. ;)

I got no problem with the Twins as such. I love Target Field, it's one of my favorite non-NY ballparks. Will be going back there next month in fact. As long as they're not playing the Yankees or Mets, I say more power to 'em!

As for the Mets: I refuse to blame the team itself for all this Madoff crap. The guys on the field are not responsible for the actions of the owners. However badly the Wilpons have run the team, it's not the fault OF the team.

The sucking and choking of the team on the field pretty much IS the fault of the team on the field, though ;)

An "incentive-laden minor league deal"? I guess 36-year old pitchers coming off a 4-16, 5.10 ERA season don't come cheap?

That's not always the sign of a terrible team. For a while, the Red Sox had half the shortstops in baseball on their payroll. Thankfully, they're back to just paying their own guys now...

The Mets suck. They're paying guys money to not be on the team!

Better than what the Mariners do. When they have overpriced busts on their team, since they're already paying them, they'd rather play them to hurt the team than not play them at all. "He's zero for his last 100 with 95 strikeouts, which means he's due to break out!!!! We fully expect his numbers to match what he did on the back of his baseball card nine years ago." But what do you expect from a team that batted Jose Vidro at cleanup?

Then you have teams like the Marlins and Pirates that never have to worry about high-priced players because the owners are too busy pocketing the largest net profits in baseball.

I just really hate the Mets and Phillies. I don't talk trash about most other teams. Just hate seeing women walk into Turner Field with those teams' jerseys... mostly because there's some "hot guy" on the team.

^David Wright makes my wife hot and bothered, but Dwight Howard and Kurt Warner (and Bryan Adams circa 1990) really get her going.

Who is the hot guy on Atlanta now that Bobby Cox isn't around? He's the one that baked my noodle on that team.

Has it really been 10+ years since there's been a relevant Laaaaa-rrryyyy chant for Chipper in NY? Where does the time go?

Chipper still gets all the catcalls and camera flashes. Jason Heyward and Kris Medlen and Tommy Hanson are definitely moving in on his territory though. Freddie Freeman is just goofy looking.

I know there are only a few Jays fans about, but I have to post this. It's the promo for the home opener that Rogers has been playing, and it's friggin' epic.
