For several years, my cousin insisted that "Bette Davis Eyes" contained the line "All the boys think she's a spaz." (Actually SPY.)

I'm like "Cuz, the whole song is about how awesome the girl is. NO ONE would call her a 'spaz'."

Maybe it's because they de-spaz her...

One of the greatest songs ever....... The Way

I used to think the line said "The road is peppered in gold"

I grew up in another country where English was spoken as a secondary language, which made it easier for me to write and speak when I came to the U.S. The radio stations played a lot of American and western songs, both modern and classic.

All I Need is a Miracle (by Mike & the Mechanics)

And though I treated you like a child
I'm gonna miss you for the rest of my life
Ptolemy is a miracle, Ptolemy is you
Ptolemy is a miracle, Ptolemy is you
Ptolemy is a miracle, Ptolemy is you...

Another slightly obscure one: In "Who's Got the Pain" from the musical Damn Yankees, there's the line "If there's a doctor in the house, point him out." For years I thought Gwen Verdon was singing "If there's a doctor in the house, put him out" -- as in "put out the cat"!

Suzy's flashing the Death Star it seems........ That's what it sounded like.

Traveling in a fried-out Kombi
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said

Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover

Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six-foot-four and full of muscle
I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich
And he said

I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover, yeah

Lyin' in a den in Bombay
With a slack jaw, and not much to say
I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me
Because I come from the land of plenty?"
And he said, oh

Do you come from a land down under? (Ooh yeah yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover ('cause we are)

Living in a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover

Living in a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? (Ooh yeah)
You better run, you better take cover (we are)

Living in a land down under (ooh yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover

Living in a land down under (living in a land down under)
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
______

that is a lot of times this video was watched OMG. what does it all mean- ?

there was a long time with these lyrics and not knowing what words were being used or what they mean till today I looked up that vegemite thing sure-- Vegemite is a thick, dark brown Australian food spread made from leftover brewers' yeast extract with various vegetable and spice additives. It was developed by Cyril Callister in Melbourne, Victoria in 1922. Wikipedia
