Contest: ENTER Misc. Avatar Contest: Turn the Page

Locutus of Bored

Yo, Dawg! I Heard You Like Avatars...
In Memoriam
Thanks for all the votes and good job to all my fellow entrants.

This week's theme is going to be illustrations from or about some of your favorite books, whether it be cover art, an internal illustration, or a piece of art inspired by a book.

The usual avatar rules apply. 200x200 pixels maximum size. Media is allowed for this contest. Entries will be open for one week from today.

Good luck!

So many from which to choose...
One of my favorite childhood books is RatsMagic by Christopher Logue and Wayne Anderson. The artwork is stunning. I had a hard time picking which one to use but for now, I think I'll go with this:

Just to make sure, you mean illustrations of prose-style books, not comic books, right?!

You can do either.

...

Since I'm planning on doing other things as well this week, I'm going to ignore that and limit myself to non-comic books.

I've chosen Michael Gillette's wonderfully Maurice Binder-esque cover art for Ian Fleming's James Bond novels. Usually I don't care which edition of a novel or book I get, but I had to collect the whole set of this edition.

A Wrinkle In Time has my highest recommendation. The sequels? Well, it's kind of like with Ringworld. If you like the original, the sequels will probably entertain you.

I wouldn't recommend the film, by the way.
The one with the guy from Kung Fu: The Legend Continues? Yeah, that was mediocre. And I think there's a new one in production, which I don't have high hopes for. It's not a book that would be easy to film, especially if they try to set it in the present day.

The one with the good, though unreleased, score by Jeff Danna. Especially that opening credits music:
