Mike Meyer's mask was modeled after William Shatner?

Yes. The production crew just bought a Captain Kirk mask at the store and spray-painted it white, because they were filming on a limited budget. Hence filming a movie set at Halloween during the middle of the summer (notice all those green trees and blooming flowers). :wtf: I've never heard what Mr. Shatner's opinion on the use of the Kirk mask was. Hopefully, he was pleased and not angry. :censored:

Halloween's Michael Meyer mask was modeled after William Shatner's face.

If true, then what did The Shat think of all this?
There was a wonderful appearance William Shatner had on Late Night with Conan O'Brien in which Shatner started out trying to explain this. Shatner wasn't quite careful enough in establishing the subject as Michael Meyer from the Halloween movies (Conan was a pretty good friend of Michael Meyer the comic actor, mind you; maybe Shatner even made a mistake and said it was Freddy Krueger or something like that), and the claim (if you've never heard it before) seems really odd, so Conan ended up looking at him the way you might look at someone who out of nowhere seemed to start claiming that Michael Meyer ripped off his face.

It's possible it's from the same interview with the famous ``Captain ... '' ``Kirk'' moment, but I don't remember at this remove.

Right, I saw that interview on O'Brien, too. I was so pissed off. Shatner was trying to explain that his mask had been used in a horror movie, and O'Brien kept telling him that he was wrong, and didn't know what he was talking about. Shatner couldn't remember which horror person it was- he mentioned Freddy Kreuger and Conan just kept ripping on him, giving this impression that Shatner was stupid or something. It really was pissing me off. I recall someone from the audience shouting "Michael Meyers" but Conan was too busy bee-bopping with his disrespect that it never got cleared up. Fuck you, O'Brien. That's what I was thinking during the whole thing. I mean, this wasn't just good-natured humor, O'Brien was actually being a straight-up asshole.

Anyway, Shatner didn't seem either pleased or angry that the mask was used, but he did seem to find it interesting and obviously had no hard feelings about it whatsoever.

Shatner mentioned not long ago in one of the video interviews at his website that a few years ago he went to a Halloween costume party as Michael Meyers, wearing said white-painted Kirk mask.

I hate Conan O'brien now. I hope someone kicks him.
