Mayor Adam West and Family Guy

With the recent passing of Mr. West, have the Family Guy producers announced how they are going to deal with this? Personally, I think they should retire the character out of respect for Mr. West, but at the end of the day, who knows how it will be dealt with from a plot perspective.

I imagine they will retire the character. I think they already had to do this with the character that Carrie Fisher played. Also "The Simpsons" had to do this years ago with characters like Troy MClure when Phil Hartman died.

Was Adam West voiced by the actual Adam West? If so I imagine they'll retire, but I never knew that, assumed he was just voiced by one of the series regulars.

Not like the character Adam West has anything to do with the real Adam West besides supposing to be him. He's just a generic crazy stupid guy in the show.

That's one thing with Family Guy, like The Simpsons they do get a lot of voice cameos for it. I believe David Tennant played The Doctor in 'Doctor Who Farted' in one episode.

I think at the funeral Peter is going to psyche out, because he figures out that Adam West is really Batman.

The character will almost certainly be retired, as you can't have Mayor Adam West without real Adam West. If anything this is a bigger deal for the show than it was for Simpsons when they lost Phil Hartman or Marcia Wallace. No disrespect to them intended, but they could theoretically have been voiced by someone else. And indeed, Simpsons comics have continue to use Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz well after the characters were retired on the show.

Adam West, however was the genuine article and therefore the character will most certainly be retired. The only real questions are:
-Did West record any lines for unaired episodes?
-Will they introduce a new Mayor of Quahog?

Adam West as a slightly crazy version of himself was a definite high point for me.

Family Guy will probably have fun with getting a new mayor. Like, have Mayor Christian Bale, but he's really intense and hardass and making everyone miserable so they have to get rid of him, then make a series regular Mayor.

Knowing the show, my money is on old pedophile.

How could I forget that one! Futurama did something similar with the Original Series and managed to get Shatner, Nimoy, Takei, Nichols and Koenig to appear as themselves. James Doohan said no, so they replaced Scottie with a traditional redshirt called Welshie. Yeah he didn't last long.

McCoy was in the episode too and didn't say anything.

I think Family Guy will be very tasteful with Adam West death... not. However several episodes, if not most of the next season was probably already made. They make episodes months in advance. The last thing that might be released of Adam West will probably be a Family Guy episode.

He's got another DCAU-esque movie coming. But yeah, Mayor Adam West will likely have another appearance or two to come. The eight or so people who still watch Family Guy will have to let the rest of us know. :P

As for who to be the next Mayor? It *is* a prime candidate for a past-prime or fondly-remembered, still-working celeb to take the job. Burt Ward may be too on the nose, but he's still working... How about Michael Keaton?
