Mass Effect Legendary Edition

On my first run through of ME1, I went in weapons heavy (so Soldier, Ash and usually Garrus/Wrex) - until I took a side trip to Luna and just thought I'd try Liara. That mission just went so easily, she was on the team as much as possible then.
Yeah, biotics were ridiculous in ME1. Even on insanity, playing as an Adept with Liara and Wrex along is basically easy mode.
Actually I never went with Jack.

People should not be quick to assume.
If anything Mass Effect fandom (good and bad) and it's play trough variations/decision making by the fanbase is very diverse.

Personally I only ever tried out these romances. I watched some others on Youtube.
mshep = Ashley, Miranda or no one
femshep = always Traynor (despite her only being in ME3, it's one of the best character and romance arcs)
You guys know we were just talking about our specific choices for the custom cover art thing, right?

My cover art. :) Shame there's not more spots, I was really torn on Grunt vs Wrex! Also the lack of EDI...

Right, I meant I was wavering between Kasumi/Thane/EDI for the final two and I chose the two former. But tempted to switch it up.

Just like the games themselves! :D

ETA: see the original quoted below lol. :alienblush:

Pre-load is live on steam for those who bought it on there, I assume it's also live on Origin.

Yep, got my email earlier. I'll mostly be playing my PS4 copy for now, though, as I'm now not sure I actually meet the minimum requirements on my graphics card!

Some "lets play" videos have been dropped on youtube so it's definitely in the wild.
Had a quick scrub through to see what the gameplay changes actually look like and it's largely as advertised: -
  • The character creator looks a lot better, and they also seem to have completely changed all those "connecting to alliance database" start-up animations for some reason.
  • While there's still some bullet sponginess, the guns seem to have quite a bit more impact in line the 2 & 3 bot in terms of damage and sound design. The AI is rather less suicidal, but there's still some janky behaviour where even the heavies like juggernauts and krogan inclined to charge and go hand-to-hand.
  • Speaking of jank: while the faces *look* better they don't appear to have done much to tweak the animations. The unblinking eyelocking, staring intently and Shepards feet in conversation, and self inflicted whiplash when the body isn't quite where the head wants it to be are a seemingly as present as ever.
  • I'd have to look at a side-by side to be sure, but it does feel like the Citadel as more NPCs hanging around, but not by much, and the council chamber feels like it has a little more greenery than before.
  • The Mako is still basically the Mako. Hard to tell from footage of course but it seems to handle more or less as it did, just with more weight, less suspension bounce, and way more traction. Mind you I'm one of those that never had a problem the the drunk rocker propelled shopping trolly feel of the original, so adjust your interpretation accordingly.
  • I had hoped that Shepard's SR1 quarters actually had some functionality to it this time out; maybe not an email system or models, but at least a way of changing the casual clothes? Alas, no such luck.
  • It seems as though they've switched out the old in engine Mass Relay loading screen with pre-rendered videos instead. Oddly though, all of the Normandy in space shots don't appear to have the same treatment, which is a shame. The pre-renderings really helped deliver some beautiful scenes without straining the GPU and without that the engine just doesn't do a good job of conveying the ship's scale.

Yup, they changed that stock image to something less crap! Apparently that's all they changed; you still don't get to see her face in person, even though she takes her mask off right in front of Shepard...grrr.

Incidentally, that image looked familiar and for a second there I thought they'd pilfered some fanart, but after checking, though the composition does bare a striking resemblance to a few very well known pieces, it seems not. Indeed, they've stuck with the previous zero effort photo's design for Quarians, just presented in a better way.

Yeah I don't know why the whole thing with Tali's face is such a huge deal to people? I get the lousy picture in the photo frame they used, that did stink a bit but worse was the big deal they made of not showing her face in the original games even though she does take the mask off in front of Shepard. I'd love to know what bioware were thinking at the time.

I think the main thrust of the issue is "if you're going to do it, do it properly or don't bother."
For one thing; the only way to see her face was through romancing her (so automatically off-limits to femShep, regardless) AND what they used was just a hastily photoshopped stock photo they just pulled off the net. Making people jump through hoops for a lacklustre reward is never going to go over well with gamers.

Any yes, the fact that there was a moment in the game where most Shepards (depending on world states) would be standing right next to Tali when she takes her mask off...and then it just cuts away did feel like they were taking the piss.
The claim that they couldn't afford an extra face asset falls rather flat when you consider how late in development that stunt-cast reporter was added in with a custom face mesh. Tali is a main character across 3 games, she deserved better than that. And now she has better...slightly.
