Marvel Ultimate Alliance-unlocking characters

I beat the game tonight. I know it is old, but I didn't get it until recently. I enjoyed it, but I want to unlock the Silver Surfer. I looked at a cheat code on a website, but it didn't really work. Something like down, left, left, up, right, up, down, left. I wasn't sure when to use it or what screen. It didn't work. Has anyone else unlocked the Silver Surfer?

The game was lots of fun and I want to play the sequel. My favorite character was Thor.

MUA is one of my favourite games of all time. I can't say it's the best game I've ever played but it's huge fun.

I unlocked Silver Surfer the hard way - completing all of the comic book missions. In order to do that you also have to unlock Blade and Daredevil and then get their comic book missions done. It's easy to mess that up because some of the action figures you need to collect are in places you can't go back to if you miss them.

Silver Surfer is a very useful character for harder difficulties as he can heal your group.

I am looking forward to the sequel, though I'm angry that once again Ms. Marvel appears to have been replaced by one of the Thunderbolts. First they kill her off and give her old outfit to bloody Moonstone and now they kick her out of the game and replace her with frakking Songbird.

I got Blade, but not Daredevil. I was hoping the other characters would be unlocked when I defeated Doom. All I got was Nick Fury. Man, was I disappointed.

Yeah, M:UA was an awesome game. I loved the two X-Men ones, but UA is so much better. I've beaten it like 4 times already, and I've unlocked all the characters.

As for Silver Surfer, unlock him legitimately. It's much more satisfying that way.

To unlock Daredevil you need to collect 5 Daredevil figures that are strewn throughout the game. Same for Black Panther. If you want I can point you to a FAQ specifying the locations.

You can still get Silver Surfer. Just find that last Disc, and beat the simulation.

I cheated-I paid for the ultimate hero/villians pack. It was worth it, IMO.

Mr. Fantastic's disc is in Namor's level were you find the seaweed that cures him. You'll need someone with "might" because you'll need their strenght to open a hidden door to find it. Missing the Crymson Dynamo disc was a mistake, that's a great simulation to help level up your characters fast because it's an endurance level. I think that's found in the crashing transport. Gamefaqs.com has a step by step level by level walk thru of where all the hidden items are. Unfortunately, some can only be found for a limited time.

Nick Fury is great if you use him as a supporting member, not an offensive one. He's useful if you send your men into battle and stay in the background an snipe or rapid fire. He's also better with stolen weapons too. Remember like Electra, Nick is human. He's string against humans & clay statues but weak against robots. So back him up with someone like Iron Man, Storm, Capt. America or Wolverine.

I got it too. Try having Dr. Doom in your party for the final battle. Not as cool a result as when you have Deadpool in your party during the Deadpool battle in X-ML 2, but still amusing.

But anyway, how is getting those characters cheating? It's just adding additional characters to your roster.

I have the Crimson Dynamo and the Mr.Fantastic disc, but on my list there is one inbetween that is locked. So you can't use extraction to go back to those boards and get missed discs?

Usually, yes.

However for example: there are items that were on the SHIELD carrier (where you spoke to Nick Fury & fought Bullseye) where once you leave that level, you can't return. Don't worry, I don't think the disc you require is there anyway.

BTW, the disc you're missing is Daredevil.

great game, enjoyed it a lot when i played on PS2. Got the Wii version, and couldn't get into it as much. Hopefully the controls improve for the next version...

I have this on the PS3, i have still to complete it and only recently i found out you could switch off the sixaxis, as i was about to have a massive heart attack having to shaking it to disarm those bombs on the cap America levels....lol

I now have all the discs and Daredevil and Black Panther. Now all I need to do is win 19 simulations on Bronze level and I'll have the Surfer. I used a walkthrough on Gamefaqs to find them plus extraction.

There are a couple of those comic book missions that are right bastards, the Spider-Man one and the Thing one spring to mind.

I still haven't won the Thing mission. The damn Rhino knocks me up into the air repeatedly and kills me.

It's been a long time, but I think there's some sort of defensive buff ability Thing has that can help with that if you invest a few of those S.H.I.E.L.D. coins in to it.

I beat Rhino with the Thing. I kept increasing his uniform abilities with the coins, but I defeated him with tactics. I blocked and would wait for his pop up attack. Then I would punch him a couple times, but didn't go for anything fancy. He just got worn down until he was dead. I've got 11 more to defeat now.

I think the Murderworld one is the most annoying because of the clowns that poison you. Anybody weak can get killed pretty fast. I had a terrible time with Mr. Fantastic on that board.

"Fatten" up Mr. Fantastic's hands, that should increase your damage.
