Speaking as someone who's not exactly a Doom expert, could they get away with never showing his face?

Yes. The comics did that for years in stories which were not flashbacks.

I don't think you cast Downey and not let us see his face. In fact I think people would feel cheated if his role was basically just providing the voice.

People are used to name actors in roles where their faces are not seen or used at all. I'd say a healthy part of the MCU moviegoing audience is not so addicted to RDJ that they would scream in protest if his face is not seen at all. The story should be the driver behind his keeping the mask on, not pandering to Iron Man / Stark fans.

As for Sam, I like that he has no interest in taking a super soldier serum, but I think maybe one should have been forced on him somehow in the D+ series. That could have been an interesting reflection of real-world history, and been dramatically interesting. But, I still like Mackie and the character, and look forward to seeing Brave New World with an open mind.

I'm looking forward to Brave New World more than I've looked forward to a Marvel film in a long time. Like maybe since Shag Chi.

Yes, he's supposed to be scarred beyond recognition. Honestly, this is a fantastic role for the RDJ that was never part of the MCU. He's such a great character actor that he's been in a lot of roles when he's been hardly recognizable. I'm hoping for a Doom that you would never know was played by Downey unless you knew ahead of time, like his role in Tropic Thunder or Oppenheimer.

Marvel.com has posted a complete MCU timeline, including all of the Marvel One Shot shorts, and the individual seasons of all of the shows all the way up Agatha All Along, with the Netflix shows.

Thanks for sharing that. Alas, no Agents of SHIELD, Runaways, or Cloak and Dagger. No Inhumans either, but I couldn't care less about that one.

^ It's not really that big of a deal, but I really wish that the timeline on Disney Plus itself separated the Netflix shows by season as well.

According to JD, this updated list is on there.

I think that is a decent point and if they had lets say cast Tom Cruise or Morgan Freeman etc to do the voice I think people would be okay with just a voice. But Downey was Stark and he had deeper connection to the MCU and the fans. I am thinking they are going to want a little bit more than just that. Same with Evans. Perhaps if this was going to be a comedy like Deadpool and Wolverine it would be okay but I just can't help but think people are going to want both them to have big roles in the movie. Even it's not Stark and Steve Rogers they going to want something very close to what they provided in the other movies. Though it does I think also depends on who exactly makes up the Avengers team. If Spider-Man is in essence the lead and you have lots of older favorites involved as well such as Thor and Hulk, and maybe a very popular X-Men character or two then maybe not. These movies are for sure going to need to be heavily filled with all the fan favorites you can get. That's why my updated list of who should be in the movie is

Avengers

Spider-Man
Thor
Hulk
Dr Strange
Steve Wilson as new Captain America
Wanda
Multiverse Steve Rogers
Ms Marvel
Kate Bishop
Ant Man
Shang-Chi
Wong

Bad guys

Stark Variant or Stark body possessed Doctor Doom
Bucky variant as Captain Hydra
Cassandra Nova but now in a more serious role.

I didn't know ahead of time and it was a good while into the movie before I realized it was him.
The only one I didn't recognize in that movie was Florence Pugh. Maybe David Krumholtz too, I can't remember. Other than that I guess I was a little squishy on Hartnett, but that's about it. My friend didn't recognize Oldman.

Right I forgot about that.

That's a fair point.
I have a pretty bad memory, so I don't remember having this conversation.

It's also included under it's own entry on Disney+'s Marvel section.

I wonder why they left out Spiderman : no way home unless it has something to do with sony deal?

Also didn't see agents of shield which was kind of a bummer.

And he got sacked from it for doing drugs on set (shame, because he was absolutely rocking that character and storyline, which had to be abruptly rewritten).
