Laura's Paint art

Laura Cynthia Chambers

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Here's where I'm going to be collecting all my non-contest Paint art. First, sideways and up and down views of a ship. (No underside)

Bridge is that light blue area at the end of the double row of two-toned windows. Two sets of guns, one large, one small. The orange rings just looked cool. That back bay is sort of a rear-view observation deck.

Here's a station with a new star forming off to the right and a rocky planet with an ice moon off to the left

That station design is not for me, but I like the ship design. What's interesting about that is the fact that in the 25 years of being a fan I don't think I have ever seen a ship design done by a woman. Cool! :techman:

Where's the sideview, though?

I aplaud you for being able to use Paint and create somethings which actually resembles a ship and a station, the ship is interesting, it does indeed need a side view and maybe racing stripes.. to make it go fast.. ;)

I'm a trailblazer. :bolian:

That's where I run into problems - I can't visualize how to do it sideways. I copied and pasted the same image to get down and right images.

Here's a passenger ship (the yellow thing is a searchlight - no visible weapons, though I suppose if you're just ferrying passengers, you might keep deployable gunnery behind a door just in case)

And some uniforms (again copied and pasted the bodies, did the heads separately) BTW, don't know what that last guy is, but I just wanted to put an alien in the image:

Sorry, I can't help it. :D Your designs are just very inspiring to me. I think the passenger ship has kind of a retro sci-fi vibe going …

I like the feet you added. So it's probably one of those colony-bound ships that are always getting in trouble that only the Enterprise can avert. Or a lost ship that caused a prime directive interference.

Here's the behind view of a ship. Note the cone-shaped thrusters or weapons, etc. The bottom saucer is actually kind of hollow. Not sure what that could be used for - maybe an outdoor deck for relaxing/driving around on when parked/a parking lot for shuttlecraft?

Here's a simpler design of a different ship from above. Could be a shuttle, or maybe a one-man fighter jet-style craft.

And last, a scene from one of my fanfics, "Contemplative Silence". Alt reality Spock and McCoy. (you'd have to read the fic to understand, but I liked how well this came out, so here it is)

A Starfleet heavy transport/evacuation vessel. The yellow things on the side are windows. The slanted front half can turn like the cab of a tractor trailer. Notice the twin sideways deltas in the bridge window? They're the bridge shutters - they telescope sideways to lock the window shut in case of a breach. The front lights can rotate.

Here's a more rocket-shaped vessel. The cockpit is on the left (front, actually)

Another saucer...

Oh, and I made myself a new avatar (this one's my own art, unlike the other) - I have red and yellow versions, too.

Yeah, I could see it as having underwater capabilities too. :bolian:

Here's another craft. I was able to make it seem 3D with the different shades....I think it looks kind of like a mask (at least it did early in the creating...)

Mostly done by me, though my brother helped by adding a saucer (which I added detail to) and drawing the ridges on the nacelles.
The light bar along the middle lights up one light at a time. The bridge is that area on the post in the middle of the concave saucer and it rotates.

I wonder where crew quarters would be in this one...

More deltas on the windows...I think the x shaped sections look like sink taps...

My brother told me this one looks like a tape dispenser...so apparently I take inspiration from ordinary objects without planning to. :)
