myanimelist.net is a great site. It has an excellent tracker that allows you to (as the site says) list all your anime and manga that you are watching or currently watching. And you can then post your lists like so http://myanimelist.net/animelist/clint87

Scanilations are technically illegal. Reminiscent of manga cattle at Barnes & Noble that sit in the isle (usually right in your way) and plow through whole series without paying. But both are not really enforced too much.
