^ Exactly.
I am going to ignore the people ruining the thread with their useless input and continue my reviews.
I am going to state now that IF YOU ARE GOING TO COME INTO THIS THREAD AND BE A JERK OFF, DON'T BOTHER RESPONDING. THIS THREAD IS TO GIVE PEOPLE AN IDEA ABOUT SOME RANDOM VIDEO GAMES I HAVE PLAYED, NOT TO READ SOME BS FROM PEOPLE WHO JUST WANT TO BE RUDE AND LOOK STUPID.
If you don't like the reviews, don't respond. I specifically said I don't want that garbage in this thread in my OP. No one is forcing you to read it. No one cares about whether you like it or not. I am not GameFaqs. I am getting to the point, not going into extreme details that no one wants to skim through.
If you want to comment on something like the MK discussion that happened earlier, that's fine, I don't really mind, but I don't want the entire thread to turn into a huge debate. If you really want to debate about something, make a thread for it. Please don't litter this thread with insignificant banter and make people have to skip a zillion posts regarding a debate or WAHHH I DON'T LIKE THESE REVIEWS to get to another review.
This is suppose to be a friendly thread that offers people a bit of help on deciding which games to play or not. RELEASE DATE OF THE GAME DOESN'T MATTER. There are still people who want to play older games but weren't sure if they should try it or not so it is still RELEVENT.
Thank you to the members who have been mature here and have added friendly input. It is MUCH appreciated!

A virus infects the residents of New York City and the military are trying to stop it.
You play the role of Alex Mercer, who is a shapeshifter and can absorb energy. He wakes up in GENTEK, which is a genetic engineering company, with no memory of what happened to him.
Alex escapes and sets on a mission to discover what happened to him by 'consuming' certain people and getting his memory back, little by little.
Captain Cross, part of the military, has been given orders to capture Alex, which makes your quest a bit of a challenge because the military are roaming the streets so your best bet is to comsume a random civilian and morph into them so the military doesn't detect you. Just remember to hide when you morph because the military will attack you if they see you transform.
Alex then meets up with his sister, Dana, who helps him on his mission.
You basically fight your way through New York City, taking down infected civilians, Hunters (they look like the Lickers from Resident Evil), the military and hives as you consume your memory targets and find out what happened to you and the truth behind GENTEK.
The game's graphics are so so. Sometimes, it looks like a PS2 game and other times, it looks more like a PS3 game but it's overall not really that impressive. The buildings throughout NYC don't really have a lot of detail and the entire city looks the same.
The game is fun but the fun fades because the game is basically you running through the city killing a bunch of people, destroying yet another military base, shooting down yet another hive.....it's fun to randomly kill a bunch of people and run over them in a tank but even that gets bland after you do it for 90% of the game. It's just too repetitive.
The level of toughness can be ridiculous at times. I played it on normal and some missions were really easy but other missions had you wondering if they game suddenly changed it's setting to near impossible. In one mission, I had to go destroy enemy tanks and you can hijack tanks so I had to get a tank and try to blow these enemy tanks away. Problem is, on top of the tanks attacking you, you also have helicopters, infected civilians and Hunters, all at the same time (I think there were also some on foot military there as well, I forget). Your tank has a 'life' bar and when that 'life bar' is done, your tank blows up and you are back on your feet again and have to hijack another tank. While you are hijacking another tank, all of these enemies are still attacking you all at once and you keep getting shot off of the tank. You can't really do much on your feet because all of these enemies are attacking you and you die fast. It is really frustrating and you seemingly want to give up and not even bother because the mission makes it that hard just to hop into a tank.
There are events set up throughout the city that reward you with bronze, silver or gold medals, depending on if you beat the records for each medal. Most events are pretty easy but others are a pain the ass. I found some trouble with the events which require you to hit glowing green markers by running to them. Sounds easy, except the controls can really suck at times and you can't hit the marker. You usually have to jump from building to building and scale walls to hit these markers.
Trophies in this game aren't all hard to get but some take way too long. One trophy is obtained by killing over 53,000 people. That is a lot of time wasting to hit that number and most people couldn't be bothered. In my quest, I felt like I ran over that many people in my tank but it wasn't even close. Unless you have a load of time on your hands and don't get bored of killing that many people, it's not even worth a try.
I wouldn't say this game is bad because I did enjoy it but I personally found it to be the type of game that I want to finish one time just to complete the story. As I mentioned, it's just all too repetitive and the scenery isn't anything you want to stare at for long periods of time. The characters aren't all that likeable, either. Alex is alright because his shapeshifting is pretty damn cool but you don't really feel sorry for the guy. When you play a game like GTA4, you feel more of a connection with the characters but I didn't find that in this game. Frankly, I couldn't give two shits if Alex found out about his past or not.
This game is definately a rental. You don't want to waste $60+ on it because you will get bored of it.
