What is your housekeeping routine?
Is there a room that you enjoy cleaning more than others?

What cleaning products do you use?

Do you have a favorite cleaning gadget (steam mop, Roomba) or tool?

OCD with at least one doctor dreading the sight of me to attest to that.

So...nuking it. I have cupboards that are stocked to the point of the NSA having a heart attack.

If it moves, I spray it.

What is your housekeeping routine?

I just live in a one bedroom apartment but I love cleaning and actually have a schedule for myself on my calendar. I don't always stick to it because I don't always need to, but it helps me keep the place in order. I also regularly invite people over so that I am forced to clean on a regular basis.

Is there a room that you enjoy cleaning more than others?

The living room, because then I can watch TV while I clean! I also really enjoy vacuuming and do a light version almost every other day because of my cat.

What cleaning products do you use?

I'm pretty simple about this sort of thing. I use an all-purpose spray for most things. The only somewhat specific thing I use is Bar Keeper's Friend on occasion.

Do you have a favorite cleaning gadget (steam mop, Roomba) or tool?

I chose my vacuum carefully and I'm pretty happy with it because it's fairly lightweight, has a long cord, and is still strong. The most useful gadget would have to be the Bissell SpotBot since I have a cat that thinks puking is a pastime.

2 bed/2 bath apartment. I vacuum religiously every Thursday. I have 2 cats, so I gotsta keep the hair & litter cleaned up. Of course I dust-buster the bathroom floor a couple times a day for the litter.

I do a simple dusting every few week, and a heavier dusting (taking all the DVD's off the shelves, etc) less often.

I clean the bathrooms monthly. I don't mess them up like most bachelors would, so they don't get too dirty.

What is your housekeeping routine?

It is imperative that every room be clean and free of germs. Therefore, I clean everything when it needs cleaned.

Is there a room that you enjoy cleaning more than others?

No.

What cleaning products do you use?

I use Pine-Sol, mostly, but I also use Endust, as well as L.A.'s Totally Awesome, which is quite efficient at removing dirt and grime, while also working as an anti-bacterial agent.

Do you have a favorite cleaning gadget (steam mop, Roomba) or tool?
No. I use a duster (Swiffer), a regular mop when needed, and scrubbing sponges.

What is your housekeeping routine?

I'm a single father who has my kids Wednesday after school through Saturday afternoon. When this started about 2 1/2 years ago, I had a good routine where I'd start Saturday after they left and finish on Sundays.

Recently, however, I'm either too tired/sick/or busy to clean and it becomes a matter of cleaning what is absolutely necessary.

I'm off next week, so I hope to do a massive cleaning and get back to weekly maintenance.

Is there a room that you enjoy cleaning more than others?

The kitchen. I'm horribly at organization and clearing clutter, so I enjoy a room where things have specific places. The kitchen is also open, so I can put the TV on in the living room and watch it.

What cleaning products do you use?

I'm partial to Lysol's line of cleaning sprays. I've got a general purpose and a degreaser spray. In the bathroom, I like the after-shower spray.

Do you have a favorite cleaning gadget (steam mop, Roomba) or tool?

I just got a steam mop, which is replacing the Swiffer Wet-Jet. The latter got expensive to continually replace the pads and cleaning solution, so I like the steam mop because it makes it so I don't have to keep buying that stuff.

I also love my Shark vacuum. It's versatile and strong.

Bleach. Lots of bleach.

That sounds so...Dexter :).

Having been forced to clean from childhood (and had that 'cleanliness is next too...' drummed in), I'm probably way too into OCD territory for my own good.

I worked in several places when I was a student that involved cleaning up all manner of human effluent, so am thankful for that early training.

Keep it clean, kids, keep it clean.

What is your housekeeping routine?

We have a weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly cleaning routine.

Is there a room that you enjoy cleaning more than others?

Probably my office. It gets cluttered and dusty quite easily, so when it finally gets mucked out it looks quite good.

What cleaning products do you use?

I think we have the Green Works line from Clorox, for the majority of the cleaning products..

Do you have a favorite cleaning gadget (steam mop, Roomba) or tool?

Central Vac. I love hearing when something gets sucked up and removed from the house.

I despise cleaning. Now that we have an empty nest 3000ft is more than I care to be bothered with. OtOH, the house doesn't get as messy as it did when there were kids in the house.

I try to use vinegar for a lot of our cleaning, I do reserve bleach for really tough stuff, though.

I don't leave the house w/o making the bed, which is a departure from my prior habit; I do it for the sheer fact of having done at least one tidy thing all day besides the dishes which I prefer to wash by hand. The dishwasher is silly for two people.

What is your housekeeping routine?

Writing a check to the housekeeper once a week.

:techman:

Same here, we use Merry Maids. It's simply the best money we spend. They are here for about 3 hours and the place is spotless when they leave. Of course the kids do everything in their power to counteract everything they have done.

We believe it is easily the best money we spend too. It is wonderful to come home on Fridays and find the house spotless.

My wife cleans homes as a side job, so I appreciate people who pay for housekeeping services.

I have a two year old son, so I sympathize with iguana... there is no destructive force in the universe equal to what a small child can do in 20 minutes.

I enjoy cleaning the kitchen, it is a peaceful moment washing dishes and cleaning counters, and so much of our life is spent in the kitchen (it is bigger and better lit than our living room) that it feels nice to keep it spotless.

One cleaning product line that we have really benefited from using is Method

Fantastic products, and some of them smell quite good.

A question to the people who hire cleaners (genuinely no side intended, just curious): do you pay them minimum wage (depending on your region)? More? Less? (I doubt anyone will admit to less ).

It's one of those areas of 'trickle-down' I've always found fascinating. I could happily/easily afford to pay someone to clean up after me, but somehow feels wrong as it's not that big a deal (the expression, 'lazy f****r springs to mind)

However, for those with two working parents, and kids, hell yeah I can understand why they might and do. And if you can help someone who might be doing doing two or three jobs on side, why not?
