John Davis Chandler has died........

Wow, I did some checking and that episode aired in 1998 or about 12 years ago. At the time he would have been 61 and grant you he was wearing prostetics but I would have never guessed that guy was in his early 60's. Anyway, he had a small role that only a big actor could have filled.
Sorry to hear about his passing. Chandler was a great character actor - he was in Major Dundee, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, Outlaw Josey Wales etc. RIP
^Weird, I just watched that one really recently.
He was in one of my favourite episodes of DS9 and one of the more underapprieciated ones, in my opinion.

John Davis Chandler had a way of making us hate him or love him.From Mad Dog Coll to Deep Space Nine,he had given fans a performance that will live on. He would have loved to see how many fans he actually had.He died thinking no one cared about him and that is wrong.Of course cancer has a way of messing with your mind.He was actually 75 when he died. The bio for him has him being born in 1937,when he had been born in 1935. He never looked his age,which is why no one knew how old he was when he played Flith. I hope his fans will continue to watch the movies and tv shows he guest starred in and spread the word on how good he was to others and keep his legacy going.

RIP indeed. I just watched Honor Among Thieves two days ago. One of my fav O'Brien episodes.
Thought I would let you guys know that John did an interview for an upcoming documentary. They Came From The Swamp:The Films of William Grefe. It will be out fall 2010. There is also an article that was published in the Sunday Gazette-Mail on May 16th titled John Davis Chandler:Requiem for a Hollywood Heavy. Nice picture of John with Gregory Peck on the set of Shoot Out and another of John as Mad Dog Coll.
I am new here and have enjoyed reading the posts about Mr. Chandler. I admired his work. I did want to point out that in the Wikipedia piece on Toluca Lake, Mr. Chandler is not listed as one of the famous residents of Toluca Lake. I feel that is a glaring omission. I hope someone would/could correct that.
Wasn't he the weasely assistant gangster going up against Dixon Hill in TNG's "The Big Goodbye"?
