I hereby vote for my wife's cookies anyway. :luvlove:

No, seriously, I'm voting for Avro Arrow's pic. It's close, and they're both lovely pics, but I feel like his has slightly better composition, and the little welcome sign with the frogs throws the other one off a little for me.

Originally I didn't enter because there were zero entries, so entering would mean if I got one vote, I would win. What's the point in that?

And finally there are only two acceptable entries, so I want to remove any chance of maybe me winning again. It wouldn't be fair with so few entries if I won.

I'm still waiting for those pics, BTW. (Any cookie described as "very odd looking", I really must see! :D )
This isn't intended as an entry even if it was suitable under the rules, because I didn't take it for the contest - I'd have composed the shot better if I had. I started to get the stuff for her to make a new batch the other day at the store, but we're dieting, and I was good. (Then, anyway. ;) ) This is a pic she had on FB from a previous time she was making them. I'm not sure if you can tell, but they're somewhat orange for cookies from the amount of pumpkin "meat" in them, and they're odd-shaped and fluffy, almost like Southern biscuits. :)

Nice! :techman:

Would she be willing to share the recipe? I'm always looking for more pumpkin things to make during this season! :D

(Can they be made with canned pumpkin purée? Unfortunately, I don't really have the time or patience to make my own from real pumpkins... :( )

Feel free to respond via PM if you wish. I've probably taken this thread enough off-topic as it is... ;)

I asked, and I've asked for other people before, but she guards her recipe - only our daughter has it. I just did a little Googling, though, and from what I've seen when she's making them combined with my own culinary knowledge, if you follow this recipe, substituting chocolate chips for the raisins and nuts, and foregoing the icing, you should be really close. :)

And yes, puree, definitely. Ain't nobody got time for that. ;)

Totally fair! :)

Thank you, I really appreciate it! I'll give this a try! :)

After hours of painful soul-searching and deliberation, I have decided to vote for Avro. Don't try to talk me out of it.

My attempt at uniqueness backfired. :rommie: As for the composition, I was kind of limited, because the porch is just to the left outside the frame-- that didn't look good at all. In fact, I should have cropped it a bit differently to get the neighbor's house out of it.

I actually think the sign would have been a *plus* - IF it had been in the middle or to one side, rather than actually in front of one of the pumpkins.

But like I said, it was very close, anyway. I was grasping for little details to decide with. And even now, I'm really only pretending to care because I think all those cooking shows on Food Network have trained me to. ;)

Cool. I'd win, if I couldn't lose.

Hey, what happened? Now it's a tie.
