Is Voyager gone from Netflix?

I just checked today 8/9/2021 and I can't find any Trek shows or films from Netflix....Just a week ago it was there on Netflix along with TOS, TNG, DS9 and Enterprise and now all gone. Is this just the USA or is it gone from everywhere?

I went to watch the episode of the week right before I watch the Delta Flyers podcast and no dice.....I have amazon so I will go and check of its streaming there. (Just checked and still on Amazon Prime)

So this is strange. I open Netflix on my google Chromecast and Voyager is still there. I open Netflix on my PC and I can't find it even with a search...

Now its back on Netflix on the PC as well. This was very strange.

Mods can Delete this entire post as its not necessary or accurate at this point.

The one main reason why I don't like streaming. I prefer buying certain series on DVD.

Let's say that you decide to watch a certain series. First you have to pay a monthly sum to Netflix or whatever to stream the series.

Then you are stuck with all the problems of streaming, such as slow Internet connection, Internet doesn't working due to broken connection (which happens from time to time) and then, all of a sudden after watching two of 7 seasons you get the message that "this series is no longer available at Netflix (or whatever).

When you contact the company, you get a reply such as "oh sorry, we have decided not to air this serie anymore. But you can try to watch this and that series instead, they are in a similar style and very popular".

When I reply that "I don't want to watch this and that series! I hate them! I want to watch the series which I was watching until you cut it off", then the reply is "Oh, but they are very popular. How can tou hate them? And if you want to watch that other series, then you must find someone else who air it!"

So then I have to cancel my Netflix (or whatever) account and find another one to pay a monthly sum to in order to watch that series I want to see with all the risks of cancelling, bandwidth and such or keep Netflix (or whatever) and start paying for two accounts.

Crap is what it is! A giant sceme too fool people!

I prefer to have the series on DVD for which I pay once and then can watch it whenever and how much I want! :techman:

Here in the Netherlands Voyager is still on Netflix, might be a USA thing, get people to subscribe to Paramount+

Do you use a VPN? I'm on Nord VPN and have had issues accessing Netflix in the past week - just my own country, nothing fancy. It seems to have resolved now.

Interesting that you mention this. I read an article where Netflix had done something that made it harder for VPN's to work and residential IP addresses. Maybe I ran into this, but thankfully its solved now

I'm in Singapore and I'm only just recently rewatching the series on Netflix. I'm already at season 3...

Alternatively...

You get a scratch on disk 7, so you go to replace it, but they don't make DVDs anymore.

Although...

Getting up off the couch to change disks every 4 episodes?

Eggs-hausting!

You have some points and there are indeed some risks and inconveniences with my way of watching my favorite series and movies.

But much better than being a slave to streaming services, having to pay them every month for something which they can end when they want and don't care what I might think.

Hopefully, DVD:s are still in use and will fortunately be made long after I've left this dreadful Gray Universe which is ruled by greed and downright stupidity. As for having to get up off the couch to change discs, I can live with that for now. :techman:

In civilized countries you are legaly allowed to backup your dvds to your computer.

So...

So your dvds are on display on your bookshelf because you are a media snob, proving that you are better than everyone else, but... Hundreds of movies and thousands of TV shows are spread across a few external hard drives, so you can watch 4 seasons of Leave it to Beaver without getting up to change the disk in the dvd tray once.

There's been doomsaying about DVDs for yonks.

The real point is, that they've been able to make optical disks that can hold 200 gb + of information for years now, which will make Blurays obsolete, but if they can't convince people to buy Bluray players to junk DVDs, how on earth are they going to convince these same people to buy a new, even more expensive optical disk player to junk Bluray, so they haven't bothered.

Oh...

The next generation of Playstation has no optical disk tray.

I have my valuable and beloved DVD.s locked in a shelf.

As for loading it all on my computer, then I have to buy a new computer only for this purpose, otherwise lack of space on the drive might be a problem. But I don't mind opening the wallet for a good cause.

Only problem I can see is if that disc crashes, then I must have an external drive for backup as well.

As for Leave it to the Beaver, I think I pass on that one.

As for Playstation, I prefer to have my games on the computer, especially my beloved NHL 2004 and Birth Of The Federation.

Actually, I'm not against development and new stuff but why change something which is good. Some of the old games are still much better when it comes to realistic scenarios and feeling than many of the Playstation games, especially the NHL games.

Yeah I ran into that with my google music. Fortunately at least google did the right thing and gave those of us who had music purchased from them the option to just download it to files. But if I had not checked that email nearly at the end of the window I would not have gotten any of it.

I don't think the DVD will be completely dead media any time too soon. It doesn't suffer from the laser rot that laserdisc had, or all the problems associated with tape. It won't last forever but scratches can be resurfaced. Even with all the problems laserdisc has had with poor pressings, there are still people using them today, so I think DVD is a safe bet, still.

OK-just saw a notice yesterday Voyager is being removed from Netflix at the end of September. Just popped up out of nowhere. Not to start a Hulu Netflix debate but I've found Hulu to be better overall.....
It may come back. That's what happened to both TNG and DS9 and they came back.
