Apparently stuff like this really matters to some people. I really don't understand it, myself.

Unless he's hiding his homosexuality with 2 marriages(one of those lasting nearly 25 years) and he's dating a 24 year old. Yeah he's gay.
She's 27 now, and he's 66...but then again who's counting? ;)

Happy 20th Anniversary, TNG!

Hmmm, my girlfriend was born five years before TOS premiered in the US, I was born four months before The Motion Picture premiered... Does that make her a lesbian?

Oh no, it's not cuz he's British. Heck, my brother was born in England so he has absolutely nothing against British people. However, he seems to have heard somewhere that he was gay. It doesn't matter to me... Picard's not even my favorite character, but it does get annoying having to deal with my brother pressing his views on me at any opportunity he gets. I've told him everything y'all have told me, and his counter was "What man would support gay rights and have gay friends and NOT be gay himself?" Well, my brother's a homophobe so that's why it matters to him. And he said he wants to "be right for once" so he can rub it in my face that I'm wrong.

I haven't told my brother about the interview where Stewart said he got into acting because it helped him meet girls yet. Next time he brings it up I'll tell him that (he might be shutting up now since mom told him to drop it).

So, the whole issue doesn't matter much to me, but it matters to my brother and he's really driving me nuts with it.

Now, that's an age gap! I had an uncle that was married to a woman 20 years older than he was and that caused some minor discussion within the family. His mother was somewhat offended because the wife and mother were close to the same age. However, they had a long, happy marriage and were content together.

Still, I think 66 and 27 is a bit much. But to each his (and her) own. I bet some of Stewart's friends are jealous because he has a young girlfriend. Anyway, that's his and her business, not mine.

Peep-holes,

All classicaly trained Shakespearean actors are the homo-gay. This is well known.

He did star in JEFFERY as a gay man! NOOOOO!!!! I couldn't see him as Picard after that. In fact, the box office failure of TNG movies can be linked to Picard's role in that film. Yes, Picard, not Stewart. See, Picard is the real persona, it's Stewart that's the "mask".

Stewart married THE FALCONER...but Donald broke them up!

He was clever enough when naming his son. "'FREEDOM' is my middle name!" DANIEL STEWART, champion for liberty!

Please accept this post as utter hogwash that it is.

Later...

Your brother certainly seems to be showing a great interest in Patrick Stewart's romantic life if he raises the topic so often. Could there be a deeper motivation? The next time your brother mentions this, ask him why he keeps bringing it up. Perhaps he has a little unrequited crush on Patrick? ;)

^No, he doesn't. He knows that he's annoying me by bringing it up and he likes to push my buttons (cuz that's what little brothers do). Dad even joined in today and I KNOW he doesn't believe any of that (cuz he went as far as to say Brent Spiner was gay, knowing that would piss me off even more). My brother basically knows NOTHING about Star Trek or any of it's actors (except maybe Shatner, but then again who hasn't heard of him? And he's heard of Nimoy, too, and knows he played Spock.)

Gay or not? Either way, That's why they call it acting.

I agree with Spider. That's no more relevant than Jonathan Frakes running around expounding "I'm heterosexual!"

Who cares? Who is really that insecure that they have to worry about the sexuality of someone they will probably never know personally?

Get a life!

I guess your brother is gay since he is so obsessed with it. He obviolsy hopes by making fun of it everyone believes that he cannot be gay - but often those, who dismiss gays the most are the ones who are gay themselfs and just trying to distract people from noticing that and trying to defeat their inner "deamon" by defeating it on the outside.

Not Stewart is the issue on gayness here, it is your brother.

So, the next time he brings the subject up, just tell him, that you now know that by making fun of it he just wants to distract others from noticing the he himself is gay and that when he has the courage to come out on this you will still support and love him, no matter what sexual orientation he has.

My brother's not gay, trust me. He has a girlfriend and gay people creep him out.

What a surprise that gay people creep him out.

This is just another reason why I think the best policy is for us to ignore the personal lives of actors or other people involved in Trek (or any other TV series or movie). In the end, it really doesn't matter, unless they're criminals or junkies and then it matters only because it interferes with their jobs.

"Creeping him out" means actually "he is afraid of them", because they reflect that he is actually gay, because he feels attracted to them - and he don't want to admit that to himself.

And having a girfriend means nothing: He can be bisexual or is having a girlfriend because society/family "demands" it from him. Many gay people had their first experiences not with the same sex.

He is gay. Trust me.

Ok, don't even go there. My brother is NOT gay. He is a Christian, like the rest of my family, and we find homosexuality to be morally wrong.

If I had known the topic was gonna take this turn, I wouldn't have even mentioned it here.

Well, homosexuality doesn't care if you're Christian or not. If you are gay, you are gay no matter what your beliefs are. Homosexuality is created by god, you know, that's why some human beeings, the "creations of god", are gay.

BTW: If you find homosexuality morally wrong your morality isn't not much of a value, since you're dismissing people for something they had no choice about. It is basically inmoral to make a moral definition based on what you are afraid of (in this case homosexuality) or to justify the lust to oppress a minority to simply gain self confidence.

People who are gay and under the direct influence of such fundamentalist views are often made to feel guilty about something they had no choice about. To inflict such feeling of guilt is strictly inmoral because it could destroy a soul even to the state that they commit suicide. And to destroy the life of human beeings based on their sexuality just for the personal sake to feel "on the right side of morality" is per definition the work of pure evil.

And please don't tell me homosexuality is a choice, because that would mean that even animals which are homosexual have the intellect to make the choice.

Sorry, but this bullshit of "homosexuality is inmoral" needed a response because beliefs like that prevent the human community to evolve and do keep it in a mind stage of the middle ages.

My feelings exactly.

OK folks, remember this is TNG and not TNZ. If want to debate the merits of why being gay is good or bad, take it to TNZ, don't do it here.

Agreed. It makes me wonder about the agendi (is that a word?) of people who keep throwing out names like a fisherman with a wiggly worm at the end of his line, looking for someone to take the bait.

Is the purpose being either to come up with a name of someone who makes being gay "acceptable" to society, or adding another name to the list of "ewwww, not him!!!"?

Hey K-Star-
Maybe your bro, wants Picard to be gay b/c he thinks he's *D R E A M Y* : )

Seriously, your family seems content to just push your buttons. My advise if you want them to stop, push back...HARD. When they bring this up again tell them you think their right and offer to get their fan address for them, since their sooo curious and "into" these characters. If they persist, as soon as any of them approach the topic again- shout out " You’re still talking about this--you must be verry interested in them!" And then speculate (out loud) on graphic gay activities (this works best at the dinner table--watch them squirm) Make them WANT to drop the topic. The only way they will stop, is if you embarrass the hell out of them; until they realize what total dicks they are really being. Sorry logic just doesn’t work in these cases, which is what you have been using up to now. Enjoy!

Salinga I'm going to do us all a favor and keep my mouth shut. Your post is REALLY pissing me off and I would SO like to counter but I don't want this to turn ugly. There's a reason I haven't asked for access to TNZ: I want to avoid discussions like this because I'm HORRIBLE at defending myself. Let's just say I STRONGLY disagree with just about everything you said in that post due to my own moral and religious beliefs and leave it at that.

And Shatinator, I'll try that tactic with my brother the next time he brings it up. ;)

I'm going to lock this thread before it turns personal and ugly. This is not the place to be discussing this issue anyway.

If one wants a civil debate on a subject without it turning into a TNZ thread, and it doesn't relate to TNG in a specific way, there is always MISC.
