Inquiry Class MSD

LCARSGFX

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
Hi all,

I just finished this up and thought some might like to take a look.
I have a higher res one here for those that want to see more detail (heavily watermarked for obvious reasons).

The Inquiry class is another one of those modern designs that, although soundly designed by John Eaves, has been presented at numerous scales with various additions. So there is no one correct shape or scale. I just went with a hodge-podge using an overall outline that is clearly recognisable as the Inquiry class but may not be 100% accurate to any one example you might prefer. The interior is based purely on my own logic and knowledge of how treknology is supposed to work (using the TNG Tech manual). If you have complaints, leave them in the suggestion box (doesn't get installed until Tuesday)

As for the name. Well, she is a fighting ship. So I gave her the name of a famous naval personality.

Oh, this is awesome! So glad to see you post another one of these, @bmused55! Like your earlier work, this looks totally legit and would have been great to see on the show.

I’ve been studying it for the past half hour or so, trying to find all the easter eggs. Don’t want to spoil the fun for others, so I’m adding them as spoilers. Here’s what I found …
  • three cats
  • three crewmen chilling on their beds
  • the obligatory rubber ducky
  • the Blade Runner silhouette
  • that tank vehicle from Aliens
  • Donald Duck’s (?) head
  • is that the Drinking Bird on one of the tables?
  • the upside down end cap of a NCC-1701 nacelle inside the nacelle

My only, tiny piece of criticism (if you can even call it that) would be that the high level of detail on the runabout silhouette kinda clashes with the more simplified silhouettes of other shuttles. But still, I really love this!

Yeah, the other shuttles are detailed as well, but for reasons I'm not quite sure of, they didn't come out as good in the crunched down image.

You're correct on all the easter eggs. There are more to find. (admittedly, some are so small, you'd need the vector image to see them)

Ah, that makes sense! Yeah, I’ve experienced shenanigans like that as well when I was exporting stuff from Illustrator in the past.

Looking forward to what others will be able to find. There’s two places where I noticed that there’s something, but wasn’t able to definitively say just what they are …

Oh yes... those are two of them

On the left you have Golum, on the right is a sitting cat, watching over the crew working on the turbolift. A manager if you will.
