True, there are duplicates. My original intent for these cards was that your move for the turn would be composed of these cards. Therefore, seeing as how I predicted moving in straight line would be a preferred action, I put two of each of those. Except for the two spaces in reverse, where the card that would have been it's double I made into a hold position card.
So I got to play my first play test games of this tonight. It was interesting. definitely some things to iron out. For one thing, we found it was more interesting to queue up the movement cards and the order cards together and take turns playing them out one at a time as opposed to playing all of the movement and then resolving all the orders. This moves even more towards simultaneous action. Also we figured out that it would be good to have some movement cards that were simply "repeat" cards so rather than having multiples of the entire deck of cards, you would need to play this card and it just repeat the same movement pattern as the last card.
There are some oddities with how damage is done so far, but I have a couple ideas of how to resolve that. I have some ideas for some changes to the ship control sheet too.
All in all it was quite productive. I look forward to making some tweaks and then running it again.
I think the next ship's I'll work on will be the Romulan Bird of Prey and the Klingon D-7. The D-7 will go quick as it'll be quite similar to the Constitution. The BoP however will involve new rules for cloaking devices and plasma bolts (which I've already given a lot of thought to). It'll be fun to fight two different ships against each other.
Excitedly,
