If Who were Bond...

Bump ... Is David Niven the equivalent of Peter Cushing? Both were already well known actors when cast as Bond/ DW. Neither falls within the official canon. Both are of a similar age, both fairly dapper men with pencil moustaches in these particular movies?

Ah interesting point, although if Nivon counts probably so does Peter Sellers...and of course Connery stared as 007 in a Bond film that doesn't sit within the official canon ;)

Sean Connery = Tom Baker (Everyone’s perception of the epitome of Bond/Who)

Possibly, though Connery is also revered as being the first Bond, so Hartnell is probably the more apt one on that score.

I think the Baker/Connery comparison is apt because both men are widely considered (though not on this thread) the definitive versions of their respective characters.

I'd go so far as to say that Hartnell was the Barry Nelson of Who, by reason that each man was the first to play their part. I've never heard of anyone claiming that Hartnell was their favorite Doctor or Nelson was their favorite 007.;)

It occurs to me also that Never Say Never Again could be the equivalent of the mythical Season 6B (have I got it right?). You know, the theory that Troughton's Doctor continued on in an alternate timeline?

Eh, not really. "Season 6B" is more of a theory about The Second Doctor's apperance in the multi-Doctor serials instead of alternative take of an existing story (which is what Never Say Never Again is).

Sean Connery = Tom Baker (Everyone’s perception of the epitome of Bond/Who)

George Lazenby = Peter Davison (The underrated nice guy)

Roger Moore = Jon Pertwee (The suave, debonair man of action)

Timothy Dalton = Colin Baker (The dangerous one the world wasn’t ready for who’s become a cult icon)

Pierce Brosnan= David Tennant (The identikit Bond/ Who- great but doesn’t bring anything new to the role just a amalgamation of others)

Daniel Craig = Christopher Eccleston (The gritty one!)

On the surface, I can see a Moore/Pertwee similarity, but Pertwee had a grit and feistiness that Moore rarely displayed as 007. I'd say that Tennant and Moore are comparable because both enjoyed the role so much and brought a light style to their versions of their respective characters.

Up until Tennant came along I'd agree with you. I think now both Baker and Tennant fall into the Connery position, certainly Tennant for anyone who is new to Doctor Who. I'm probably safe in saying the majority of viewers today probably haven't seen more than bits and pieces of the original series.

George Lazenby = Peter Davison (The underrated nice guy)

I'd go with that. Also Davison followed the Connery of the era, as Lazenby did (to somewhat more success, fortunately). I could also put Matt Smith in the Lazenby position for that reason as well with regards to Tennant.

Roger Moore = Jon Pertwee (The suave, debonair man of action)

Agreed on that one.

Timothy Dalton = Colin Baker (The dangerous one the world wasn’t ready for who’s become a cult icon)

Nicely put.

Pierce Brosnan= David Tennant (The identikit Bond/ Who- great but doesn’t bring anything new to the role just a amalgamation of others)

Disagree 100%. Actually in both cases. I do however think Tennant does also belong in the Brosnan position because, like Brosnan, he helped ensure the franchise's survival. Yes, he followed Eccleston who got the ball rolling, but remember when Eccleston left after one year a lot of people went "uh-oh" and it was under Tennant that the franchise skyrocketed again.

Daniel Craig = Christopher Eccleston (The gritty one!)

I'll go with that one. It's been pointed out that of all the Bond actors, Craig is the least likely-looking. Same can be said Eccleston, really.
