If Harry Kim was to have a stable romantic relationship, with whom he would have it?

If an Ocampa year was canonically stated to be, say, 3518 twenty-four hour Terran days, that would eliminate all issues with any Kes-related romance. Kes would be 7036 days old in "Twisted", or nineteen T-years old. But, the universal translator seems to convert time intervals accurately. Go figure.

Here's an interesting article. Not sure I agree with its ranking, but the fact that they think that Harry's BEST relationship in 7 years was with...
a zombie ensign
certainly says something.

I think we can agree on that this would be the best.

Indeed. However, it makes the events of "Before and After" a bit harder to explain.

While Harry was poorly developed in the series, what he do see of him makes him quite a catch.

- Highly intelligent.
- Very capable. Seven's only criticism was that he was so caught up on his work, his third-shift underlings had nothing to do.
- Athletic. Excels both at Parisses Squares and arm wrestling.
- Loyal to a fault. Even when Tom suggested that cutting him loose would be in Harry's best interest, he didn't.
- A good friend.
- And, Linnis mentions in "Before and After", he's even a great dad.

Still, he's no Gary Stu. His weaknesses include...
- He's maybe a bit too beholden to rules, making him a bit boring at times.
- He can't get past his own guilt when he makes a mistake.
- He doesn't stand up for himself enough. He should have called Janeway out for not promoting him.
- He seems to have a tendency toward hero worship.
- He snores.

You should read the Voyager books. Harry is actually quite active in many of those.

The only problem is that the different authors seem to have got stuck in the "whipping boy" syndrome since harry is badly injured in 7of the 19 books which covers "the Kes time" and close to death in two of those seven books.

But he is still more active and interesting than in most of the TV episodes.

A potted fern would be more interesting than he was in the TV series. His character was disastrously neglected on the show, and efforts to salvage him (like they did with Bashir on DS9) were quashed. Even that basic list of strengths and weaknesses took some doing to compile.

Which is really sad.
But try some of the books if you can find them. he's better there.
