I knew Terrorism made God very angry and all...

...but, this is the kind of wrath we haven't seen since the Old Testament.

ANTI-TERROR bosses last night hailed their latest ally in the war on terror — the BLACK DEATH.

At least 40 al-Qaeda fanatics died horribly after being struck down with the disease that devastated Europe in the Middle Ages.

The killer bug, also known as the plague, swept through insurgents training at a forest camp in Algeria, North Africa. It came to light when security forces found a body by a roadside.

The victim was a terrorist in AQLIM (al-Qaeda in the Land of the Islamic Maghreb), the largest and most powerful al-Qaeda group outside the Middle East.
Damn... For once, I'm just speechless...

Please, no smart-ass remarks about my stunned silence. It's not really funny in this case.

In the original plagues, rancid, rabid decaying rats got into the general water supply. Pestilence it was.

Hardly biblical...if they lived among more modern facilities they'd never run the risk.

Which bit are you speechless about?

he can't answer you.... he's speechless!;)

Oh, a "security source!"

Well my "security source" says this is most unfortunate actually, and since people apparently believe whatever they are told sans evidence, this should be fine for them.

Yes, I know. It's supposed to be a joke. God sending plagues on people who mistreat Jews and all... Also, quit telling them they can avoid this by NOT living in squallor! We want these bastards dead, remember?!

The fact that the Black Death is starting to make a comeback. To me, that's much scarier than AIDS. AIDS can be avoided by NOT sleeping with dirty women or using dirty needles. The Plague requires a bit more caution and is a MUCH more gruesome way to die.

Do you have a link to the complete story?

Yes. Sorry I forgot about that... Guess I was more stunned than I thought... Link

I'm sure that whichever Al-Qaeda members tasked with monitoring the TrekBBS already know that sanitary living conditions mean a lesser chance of infectious disease.

40 guys living in the middle of nowhere in shitty conditions is hardly a comeback. Clean living conditions and a little common sense will keep the plague from doing any real damage to anyone except the previously mentioned people living in the dumps. Even when the plague was supposedly making a come back here in my region, I wasn't particularly concerned, and accordingly I'm not going to get too upset about some cases in the Middle Eastern boonies.

The black death is making a comeback? Not sleeping with dirty women? :wtf: What the...?

We may not be looking at an epidemic wiping out millions, but the plague has never really gone away. More sanitary living conditions and proper methods of disposal for rubbish and sewage have made it less common in cities but Yersinia pestis is still out there, maybe as close as the nearest large urban park or county recreational area. Doesn't have to be rats, either -- squirrels, skunks and all sorts of animals can be carriers of infected fleas.

There's treatments for the plague with prompt diagnosis.

Hardly something for 1st-World countries to worry about.

^Exactly. By today's standards, the Plague isn't a whole lot to be worried about if you live anywhere with a halfway decent medical system.

This is what turns people into terrorists in the first place - in a modern world where basic medical care and sanitation exist, people still die from the effing plague, and are hungry, and hopeless, while we, with 5% of the population consume 20% of the resources. Is it any wonder?

.....That's not what makes terrorists either. Terrorists don't take their anger out on other countries because that country has the most resources. They attack others for religious beliefs, racial hatred, or freedom. It is rare that people become terrorists because the other countries have more stuff.
