I HATE spicy foods, Danggit!

I am so SICK of co-workers/friends whipping up spicy dishes, insisting I "taste" them then get mad when I refuse. I have told these people countless times I do not like food with a "kick" to it or any hint of spiciness, yet they continue to pester me to try their latest creation.

I do not find spicy foods appealing. I do not like having my tongue burning while sweat beads break out on my forehead as a I wave my hand in front of my mouth and reach for a cool drink.

I want to enjoy my food and taste it, not suffer while eating it.

Anyone else here not a big fan of spicy food?

I dunno. How spicy are we talking? If it's so spicy that all I can taste is burning, then no.

I love spicy food, but I expect you mean 'hot' - I don't do well with so much heat you can't taste anything but heat. A nice spice combination though is beautiful - home made curries, for example.

I hear ya. Although I'm probably far more picky than you about my food selections. My... "undeveloped tastes" (as some in my office would describe it) is well-known, not just in my office, but in one of our customer's offices. On several occasions while visiting that client, I have been known to order a cheeseburger (plain naturally)... from a Chinese restaurant. In my defence, it is actually listed on their menu as "plain cheeseburger". ;)

I dont like ANY spicy foods. Sometimes these folks bring in chicken wings and try to tell me they are covered in BBQ sauce. My eyes start tearing up just from the smell of the spice so I know that is not just BBQ sauce on them and refuse to try them.

Bland is what I like.

Awww. You're so white. Me? I'm Mexican-American; i love spicy food. But i will agree with you that too much spice isn't all that good. You don't want the spiciness to overpower the taste of the food.

Actually I'm part black and white.

In some parts of the USA, the spicier your food, the more manly you are....

I've never had anything that was too spicy for me--except for a drop of Ghost Pepper hot sauce from India. Holy shit, that stuff is hot. And it's all heat, not really any flavor. Not much of a fan of that.

Even so, I love spicy food!

Tongue-burningly hot food does nothing for me but I'm a big, big fan of some terrifically spicy dishes. Curry is my all-time favorite.

I think you have very sensitive taste buds is all. Nothing wrong with that but it is what it is... we're all unique and beautiful snowflakes and some of us are going to react differently to things.

Me, I hate raspberries with a fiery passion. I don't understand how anyone can possibly enjoy them but to accept that I have 'unusual' taste buds in that department. People look at me like I'm crazy; I'm used to it.

The hotter the better for me. A few days ago, I had a shredded beef and hot peppers dish at a Thai restaurant that made me sweat and released more endorphins than than sex does for me any more.
