I love Trek and always have. That being said fans take it very seriously and get bent out of shape over magic supernovae, travel times between planets, how big the classic Enterprise is or whether the future is really utopian enough when...
90% of aliens are humans with bumpy heads which make zero evolutionary sense. And they can all interbreed with humans, even when they have green blood or similar. Alien women can even knock up human men after something that was so weird it wasn't recognisable as sex until it was too late.
The Enterprise is a really silly and impractical shape. And if there is some practicality to it in-universe, why do most aliens prefer to shape their vessels like birds instead?
Space is presented in a completely ficticious way where there is sound, FTL spaceships swoosh past each other at distances of mere meters and things explode as if in an oxygen-rich atmosphere. Up is universal and time is constant throughout the galaxy unless you're from the "Blink of an Eye" planet.
While I enjoy the debates on this site, sometimes I think we need to remember what it is we're arguing about. How silly is Star Trek?
