How Old Is Spock Prime !!!

Nero's Shadow

Captain
Captain
I was wondering how old is spock prime in the new movie and would he suffer from the same illness like his farther sarek in the TNG episode unification ? .:vulcan::confused:

He's 155 in 2387.

This takes place after Unification.

The black hole sends him to a parallel universe that is back in 2258 (Spock was born in 2232, and thus the younger Spock is 26 years old for most of the film).

Spock came to the new timeline from the year 2387. As he was born in 2232, this means that he was 155 when he was swept into the new timeline.

Sarek was 202 in "Sarek" making him probably 204 when he died near to 2 years later.

157.

He was born in 2230(established and generally-accepted Mike Okuda calendar).

Memory Alpha uses 2232 as the birthyear. That's because they recognize TAS as Canon and interpret information from TAS literally.

In "Yesteryear" (which is supposed to take place in 2269), Spock travels "30 years" into the past and meets his younger self, which is 7 years old at the time. 2269-30-7=2232.

The Okudas used 2230, because that would correspond with Leonard Nimoy's actual age at the time of TOS's first season IIRC.

I guess neither date is fully Canon, because Spock's age was never acually established on screen at some point. In any case, while Okuda's chronology has not been republished in recent years, Memory Alpha is alive and well. So, it's safe to assume that Memory Alpha information will continue to push aside and supersede Okuda information.

Interestingly, Mark Lenard was 67 years old at the time of Sarek's final TNG appearance. Leonard Nimoy is 78 today. However, Sarek was supposed to be over 200 years old at the time of his death, while Spock is only around 150.

You could perhaps try to rationalize this with Spock's half-human heritage, but this isn't how Spock has aged in the past. Between TOS and TUC, Spock aged just like a human (then again, so did Sarek), but between TUC and TNG he almost didn't seem to age at all. Suspension of disbelief, anyone? ;)

Spock's body was also fatally irradiated in ST II, and reborn in ST III thanks to the Genesis Effect - and protomatter.

Sarek's body wasn't. Pretty much everything I wrote about Spock also applies to Sarek.

Sarek aged like a human between TOS and TUC and then his aging process was apparently stopped for several decades. ;)

I don't think Spock Prime would have the same fate as Sarek. People die differently, as well as aliens. Unless every Vulcan dies the same way, I dunno.

Do we even know the upper limit of the average Vulcan lifespan?

Now here's a question: When he's time comes, what does Spock Prime do with his katra? There's a lot of information there-- centuries of history, tech, politics, experiences-- that he would see as being to valuable to lose. Does he "download"-- to use a term-- to a Katric Ark, mindmeld with one of the few remaining Vulcans, or simply ride off into the sunset to let it all go to nothing.

I wonder though-- did Sarek pass on his Katra when he died in TNG? Or is it something that "younger" Vulcans do when their time is up? I do remember Sarek mind-melding with Picard but I don't recall if it was for that reason.

One presumes he did pass on his katra while he was still able to do so.

It's not an age-related thing - a Vulcan passes their katra to a trusted person - usually a family/clan member - upon his/her deathbed at whatever age.

I know there are references in Treklit to Vulcans in their 240s and older, soo 200 is harly the upper limit of their lifespans. In TOS people were chocked that someone as young as Sarek (at 104 years of age) had "retired" from ambassadorial duties.

In TNG episodes, Sarek was suffering from a neurodegenerative disease, so 204 wasn't necessarily the upper limit of his normal lifespan had he not contracted a fatal disease.

Once would assume that Spock - who could live for many more decades (if not Mr. Nimoy) - would make some plans regarding his katra - although that's well outside the stories of NuTrek on film. So far.

In the new Star Trek mag, Kutrtzman and Orci state that for NuTrek, after having read all the available sources from TOS, TAS, Treklit and movies, they decided Spock was 3-4 years older than Kirk.

I don't know, I'm sure people in the future will still write books. I know Spock's memoirs would certainly be fun to read.

Maybe he'll call it "I am Spock"...

Ummm...dude...I hate to break this to you but all of Star Trek is pretty much based on Suspension of Disbelief...

You might want to sit down for this news...I'm sorry but Vulcans are not real... :)

(And I post this in the spirit of humour that was contained in your original post)

Yeah, that's basically what I said...
