How many windows does the Enterprise-D have?

Anyone know how many windows the Enterprise-D has? I'm hoping someone has already figured it out and shared the answer somewhere. There's blueprints here http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/ed-whitefire-enterprise-ncc-1701d.php and the pictures above if people want to start counting otherwise :wtf:

Edit: I counted 3,237 windows for this project. I would probably give a +/- 100 window margin of error due to different window configurations with the different enterprise models used in the series, any human error in the blue prints, and any human error on my part. You're welcome to review my counts, I have the photoshop files posted later in this thread.

I'm going to guess there are around 3,000. An app can be made to try to categorize every window. It probably wouldn't take too long to find out.

Did the different physical filming models have the same number of windows? What about the CGI version?

Looking at those photos reminds me of the problems with the windows on the dorsal fin. We have windows that are slanted, circle windows, windows that don't have the same height, and the most problematic -- windows right on the edge of the other side. We've seen time and time again there's a thick hull between the inside of the ship and outside. Sorry, there are no windows right at the edge touching the corner, it doesn't work.

It would have been interesting to see, at least once, one of those cramp dorsal fin quatters inside, with their oddly angled walls and slanted windows.

Must be a cool light show for non enlisted people on the bottom of the stardrive section with phasers were fired or tractor beams were activated.

I used to have those blueprint maps of the Enterprise D, during my teen years. I had never though to count the windows when I had those. That is a lot of windows and I would have lost count (if the phone rang or my Mom was calling for my name).

I looked at some technical manuals but there's no mention of total number of windows :-(

The most straightforward way to do it is use this counting feature in photoshop

With these images http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/ed-whitefire-enterprise-ncc-1701d.php

I tried it a little, I counted 155 in this little bit of the saucer

I just haven't had time to do it yet. Maybe this weekend unless someone else has the time

None, they're all painted on.

No, they're "real" windows. How do you think they're lighted? The model was cast in translucent fiberglass. Each and every window was masked off with a tiny piece of tape. The model was painted, and the masking tape bits were removed. Custom-shaped neon tubes inside provide the light.

It is a difficult concept. ;)
I thought you were joking that they were just painted on the model, which would be, well, incorrect. :)

I tried asking the person who has been trying to make a 3d model of the enterprise at http://www.enterprise3dproject.com/ how many windows there were. I think he ignored me though. I feel like this guy when I ask how many windows the Enterprise-d has

I found some time to count the windows on the lower part of the saucer section. There are 590 windows there, about half as many as there are on the upper half

1146 + 590 = 1736 total windows on the saucer section altogether. That just leaves the drive section left to count
